Chapter 27
A chilling sensation ran down Aspen’s back, but she couldn’t afford to think–she had to escape. She struggled with all her might, her body thrashing wildly.
In her panic, she kicked out, her foot landing squarely in the most vulnerable spot on Isaac’s body. The impact made him grunt in pain, and his grip loosened for a fleeting second.
Seizing the opportunity, Aspen scrambled onto the table and lunged for the door. As soon as it swung open, the glimpse of freedom filled her with desperate hope.
But just as she took a step forward, a brutal force yanked her back. A sharp pain shot through her scalp as Isaac’s palm came crashing down on her cheek
“You bitch! Do you have a death wish?”
“Help! Somebody help me! Let go of me! Get away–don’t touch me!”
Aspen had seen her chance, and she refused to let it slip away. She clung to the doorframe with all the strength she had left, her fingers locked in a death grip.
She couldn’t give up. She wouldn’t!
“Help? This whole damn place belongs to me! Who’s gonna save you? You little whore, you should’ve taken the easy way out. Now you’re really gonna pay for it!”
Snarling, Isaac raised his foot and stomped down on Aspen’s hand. A sharp, searing pain shot through her fingers, but she refused to let go.
At the same time, he yanked hard on her hair, dragging her back inside. It felt like her scalp was being tom straight off.
She thrashed wildly, kicking her legs and digging her fingers into the doorframe despite the crushing pain beneath Isaac’s shoe. She knew–the moment she let go, it was all over.
“Oh? So you like being watched, huh?” Isaac suddenly laughed. “Fine by me!”
He flung her to the floor and started undoing his belt.
Aspen didn’t dare look back. She crawled as her nails scraped against the floor, clinging to her last shred of hope. No matter what, she wouldn’t give up.
“You really are the most stubborn woman I’ve ever met.”
Isaac smirked as he yanked his belt free. Reaching down, he grabbed her by the ankles and dragged her back.
“Let me go!” Aspen screamed, her body jerking violently.
However, Isaac was done playing games. His patience had run dry. Gripping her hair, he slapped her twice. Then, he slammed her onto the table and climbed on top of her without hesitation.
His mouth was rough and greedy as he pressed against her skin, and his breath was hot and sickening. One hand was now clamped down on her wrist, while the other ripped her shirt apart.
A cold breeze brushed against her exposed skin. Aspen’s heart plummeted into an abyss of despair.
No matter how hard she fought and resisted–she couldn’t change anything. It was just like always.
The final barrier between her and humiliation was forcefully torn away. In that instant, Aspen felt her dignity being ripped to shreds.

Just then, a deafening noise filled the room. Isaac’s body suddenly went limp and collapsed onto the floor.
Aspen’s breath hitched. She opened her eyes, trembling. And then, she saw him.
She couldn’t believe it.
Tears spilled from her eyes before she could stop them. Never in her wildest dreams had she thought their reunion would happen under these circumstances.
“What? Don’t recognize me anymore?” His voice carried a trace of pain.
Striding forward, Aren Jefferson pulled off his jacket and wrapped it around her trembling body before lifting her into his arms.
“Aren…” The moment she felt the warmth of his embrace, Aspen Tinally choked out his name. Her hands gripped the front of his shirt tightly as her body trembled uncontrollably, her tears flowing freely.
“You came back?”
“I came back.” Aren nodded.
His steps were steady as he carried her out, stepping right over Isaac’s unconscious body.
“Thank you.”
Aspen’s voice was barely a whisper. The overwhelming helplessness and the sheer humiliation crashed over her all at once.
Back when Isaac had been on top of her, she hadn’t shed a single tear. But now? All she wanted to do now was bury herself in Aren’s arms and cry her heart out.
