Chapter 16 Emotional Breakdown.
Rosalie hadn’t found a new place to stay yet, so she still needed to go back to Candice’s.
Finished
Nathaniel, feeling irritated, tugged at his tie and asked, “How much longer are you going to stay at Golden Glory Residence?”
He honestly couldn’t understand what had triggered her so much. Why did the have to escalate things like this?
“Mr. Drake, do I really need to remind you again that our relationship is broken and heading toward divorce? What happened. earlier at Grandpa’s was just an act, Rosalie replied, her voice flat.
If their relationship was already over, she didn’t need to stay there any longer.
Now that she was leaving, wouldn’t it be more convenient for him to bring someone else back?
The constant mention of divorce was driving Nathaniel up the wall.
Pull over, Nathaniel said
The driver slammed the brakes, and the car stopped on the side of a street in the city center.
“Thanks, Rosalie said, her tone steady as she opened the door and started to get out.
“I have the clothes dry–cleaned and sent back to you,” she added without turning back.
“You better not just throw them away. Nathaniel said, a sharp edge in his voice.
Rosalie certainly knew how to provoke him.
“Alright. I hope you keep your word and take down the listing for Apricotshade Manor,” she said as she slammed the door behind her, her attitude colder than ever.
The driver, nervous, spoke up from the front. “Sir, where should we go now?”
Lotuswood Estate, Nathaniel muttered, fuming
It seemed like all Rosalie cared about was Apricotshade Manor. She even managed to remind him of it as she left.
As the evening grew coddler, Rosalie, still wearing her sleeveless dress, began to feel the chill. She pulled the hoodie she had worn earlier bark over her shoulders for warmth.
When she got home, Candice happened to be there. She glanced at Rosalie and said, “What’s with the outfit? New trend?”
Rosalie lat her lip as the changed her shoes, nea responding
“Has Nathaniel heen too stingy to buy you a decent dress? Candice asked, knowing Rosalie often faced ridicule from the Drake family whenever she returned home. If she showed up looking like this today, they would definitely target her.
The warmth in the house helped ease the cold, and Rosalie headed to the bathroom to take a shower, removing the hoodie
Candice gave her an approving nod. “How that’s better.”
After her shower, Rosalie came out to find Candice sitting on the sola, a stack of A4 papers in front of her.
Rosalie glanced at the papers, assuming they were related to some programming work, and her expression grew thore

said.
Rosalie had assumed Candice was still upset about her leaving
“Not angry anymore!” Rosalie asked, raising an eyebrow.
Candice turned her head, Angry about what? If you want to go out and spend your own money, go ahead. The sooner you leave, the quieter it 11 be around here?
Candice, in fact, thought Rosalie should have her own place. But since the divorce wasn’t fmalized yet, it was a bit complicated.
Rosalie could tell Candice was being sarcastic, and her expression softened.
She sat next to Candice and began going over the listings. “Which one do you think is good?”
After they went through the options, time had passed, and it was getting late. Rosalie went back to her room, planning to sleep, when her phone rang. It was her mother calling-
Her mother had been in and out of the hospital for a while, and they didn’t talk much.
Rosalie’s heart skipped a beat, worried that something had happened to her mother.
“Rosalie, are you busy lately?” her mother’s voice came through the phone.
Rosalie hesitated before responding. “Not really. I’ve resigned.”
She hadn’t planned on hiding her resignation from her mother.
“Resigned? But your job was doing well, wasn’t it?” her mother asked, surprised.
She remembered how much effort Rosalie had put into landing that job, even though her college degree was in a completely unrelated field.
It seemed like so much effort down the drain now,
Rosalie tightened her grip on the phone, but still didn’t mention Leonor’s return. “I was just feeling a bit tired. I needed a
break
Her mother hummed thoughtfully on the other end.
“Well, that’s understandable. Grigow Airlines is part of the Drake family’s business, so if you ever want to go back, just talk to Nathaniel. It should be no problem,” she said, her tone almo
