Nathansel walked into the room, bringing with him the warmth of the undones. He was still dressed in has captain’s indorm. the Lamt went of jet fuel clinging to him.
“Why did you wait for me to come with you to visit Mom?” he asked, his tone softer than usual, lacking the usual coldness.
Rosalie stiffened. Why was he heret And Note did he buon she was at the hospital today?
Rebecca’s sinde grew even wider at the sight of Nathaniel,
“Nathaniel, you’re here! I was just telling Rosa about you. She said you were busy with work, so she came by herself, Rebecca sand cheerfully.

“But didn’t we agree that I’d come as soon as my flight was done? Why didn’t you wait for me?” he continued, his voice tinged with mild reproach.
Rosalie forced a stiff smile. “I didn’t want to interrupt your work.
Nathaniel ruffled her hair with his large, warms hand and said, “Your business is my business. How could it be an interruption!”
There he was again, with his smooth words, playing the perfect husband.
In front of her mother, just like in front of Eldon, Nathaniel always acted like the epitome of a loving husband
It was hard to reconcile this version of him with the cold, unfeeling man she knew in private.
Rosalie’s chest felt tight, her emotions twisting painfully.
Rebecca, eager to keep the peace, quickly stepped in, worried that her daughter’s stubbornness might upset Nathaniel
“Nathaniel, don’t blame Rosa. I’ve already spoken to her about this. Rosa, next time, don’t be so impulsive. Learn to be a bit more patient, alright?
Rosalie felt as if her chest were stuffed with cotton but managed a polite smile. “Til remember, Mom.”

“It’s ne. Mom Rosa’s little quirks are actually quite endearing, Nathaniel said with a faint smile.
Rebecca laughed, clearly pleased, and tumed to the bed where she had neatly arranged the clothes she had bought for Nathaniel
“Come, take a look 1 picked out these clothes for you. Do you like them?”
Her eagerness, the subtle carefulness in her actions, and the faint tone of trying to please were all so that Rosalie could have a better standing in the Drake family
Rosalie pressed her lips together tigluly
To Nathaniel, these clothes were nothing more than garbage.
He wouldn’t even glance at them, let alone wear them. Using them to wipe the kitchen counter might even be too much.
And yet, here they were, presented to him with so much sincerity. Just like her love for him in the past–always destined to be discarded
Mom.. Rosalie began, intending to interrupt Rebecca.

He turned toward the bathroom and added with a smirk, “Rosa, come help me change.”

He leaned against the bathroom doorframe, his eyes carrying a teasing glint–a hint of intimacy reserved for lovers.
Rosalie frowned, wanting to refuse, but one glance at her mother’s hopeful expression silenced her protest. Slowly, she followed him into the bathroom.
Inside the small space, Rosalie stood pressed against the wall, arms crossed, watching as Nathaniel shrugged off his jacket.
“What are you trying to do?” she asked, her voice low.
Nathaniel’s physique was impressive, lean yet muscular. She had once been infatuated with this body, but now, she averted her gaze, feigning disinterest.
“I can’t undo the buttons on my shirt. Come help me,” he replied casually.
Rosalie frowned. “You can’t dress yourself?”
Nathaniel glanced toward the door, his expression unreadable.
The two stood at an impasse until Rosalie finally gave in.
Her t
pale, slender fingers moved to the buttons of his shirt, carefully undoing them one by one.
She tried to maintain her distance, but Nathaniel’s larger frame made the cramped bathroom feel even smaller. Standing under the ceiling light, he cast a shadow that seemed to envelop her entirely.
She became momentarily distracted, her nail accidentally grazing the skin near his collarbone.
“Take it lightly.” Nathaniel hissed softly, his voice unusually husky.
“Sorry,” Rosalie murmured, her fingers trembling slightly.
Nathaniel tilted his head, his long lashes casting shadows over his eyes. There was a flicker of something unreadable in his gaze as he looked down at her, his expression quiet and intense.
