Goodbye Mr. Captain).
Chapter 21 Jealousy
Rosalie never expected to run into him here.
Even after all these years. Theodore hadn’t changed much. He still wore his signature black–rimmed glasses
Finished
His eyes were unreadable, and the slight pursing of his lips gave him a brooding air when he wasn’t speaking, making it hard not to feel like stepping back when he was around.
“You live across the hall!” Rosalie asked, pointing to the door behind him.
“Yes” Just one word. No extra expression.
Rosalie felt a pang of disappointment. He really hadn’t changed at all. He was exactly the same as three years ago–still as quiet, still speaking as little as ever.
“You know, Theodore’s been considering coming back to the country to develop his business, so I reached out to him. His skills are quite impressive now, Candice said, winking playfully
“You two happen to live in the same complex. You should catch up. By the way, didn’t you two work together quite well
before:
Candice was hinting that with someone like Theodore as a teammate, there was no need to have him as an opponent. It was why she recommended this apartment to Rosalie
Rosalies temperament was fiery, and she could be too aggressive at work, often falling into traps set by others.
But Theodore, on the other hand, was calm–perhaps even a little too calm. He complemented her perfectly, like the saying goes: two negatives make a positive.
As Candice was telling Rosalie about Theodore’s recent achievements, Theodore remained silent. His dark eyes lingered on Rosalie for a brief moment before quickly shifting away.
In total, he had said only one word, “Yes.””
When Theodore first joined the team, some of the livelier members didn’t like him, thinking he was standoffish and overly
But Theodore let his skills do the talking and put the naysayers in their place.
Rosalie had once worried that he might struggle if he went abroad to develop his career. Now, it seemed her concerns were unnecessary.
Though this apartment complex wasn’t the top–tier, it still cost several million, so for Theodore to be living here, it was clear he was doing well.
“Rosalie, you two should help each other out and grow together, Okay? By the way, since it’s rare for everyone to gather like this, why don’t we have a meal together?” Candice suggested, clearly excited at the prospect
It was already close to dinner time, and Rosalie didn’t mind–mainly because she was curious about Theodore’s reaction.
Theodore nodded, so the three of them decided to go out to eat.
After the meal, as they were leaving the restaurant, Rosalie and Candice walked ahead, while Theodore quietly followed behind them.
Rosalie was holding a bag and a file folder. When Theodore noticed, he naturally extended his hand, offering to help carry her things
“Thanks, Kosalie said, not one to refuse help, handing the items over without hesitation.
Theodore simply smiled and shrugged, as if it were no trouble at all.
Chapter 21 Jealousy
Roulie’s beauty made it hard for anyone not to notice her, no matter where she was
“Isn’t that your wife! Looks like she might be getting a boyfriend soon,” Brant teased.
Nathaniel shot him a cold, sharp look, and the air seemed to freeze.
Finished
Brant smirked, not backing down. “I’m just letting you know, in case you didn’t realize. I thought I had reminded you since the last time. At the bar, she was pretty wild, wasn’t she?”
Nathaniel’s face darkened. “If you don’t know how to keep quiet, then zip it.”
Brant immediately shut up, making a zip motion over his lips with his hand.
Nathaniel, still scowling, picked up his phone and dialed Rosalie’s number.
A few seconds later, she picked up. “Where are you?” Nathaniel’s voice was cold and commanding.
Rosalie sighed, already irritated. She couldn’t even have a peaceful dinner with a friend. “I don’t think that’s any of your
business.”
“I’m giving you thirty minutes to show up at Lotuswood Estate, Nathaniel demanded.
Rosalie was taken aback. “Why?”
She couldn’t understand why Nathaniel always spoke to her from such a high pedestal and why he felt entitled to order her around.
She used to tolerate his behavior, but not anymore.
Rosalie was about to snap back at him when Nathaniel’s voice interrupted, cold and stern, from the other end of the line.
