Chapter 4
Lauren learned about everything that has been happening to Declan after years of hearing nothing from him.
He turned out to be the strongest Alpha in all of the North. The Black Ridges Pack expanded and the nearest werewolf packs had been taken over They said that Alpha Declan’s pack were savages, were feral and wild and would hunt even in lands that weren’t theirs.
They were confidently walking over other territories because they knew their Alpha was the strongest in the land. And sure enough, the other packs would be conquered, saying that in exchange for their lands, they would extend their forces, supplies and protection against their common enemy to defend them.
Jasper told Lauren that Alpha Declan was ruthless and merciless. That he would trample down anyone who would come his way with his big wolf and Alpha Command.
But knowing the man-
man–at le

he was before they got married, Lauren was confused.
“If he was so bad, why didn’t his pack and the others try taking him down? He may be strong, but they got the numbers, she asked Jasper, also remembering the werewolf people in the Black Ridges Pack.
Their Alphia may not have treated her right, but they were good people. They were not the wild and savage wolves Jasper described them as per her memory. And she knew they wouldn’t let a pompous Alpha like that step on them.
Jasper shook his head. “They are his people, Lu. If anything, they worship him for giving them a bigger land and almost unlimited supplies. They may even see him as a visionary for creating a pack as huge as theirs now that they’ve conquered almost everything. And so far, no one has reported that they were taken over by an attack by the enemies. The conquered packs felt protected by the forces that the Black Ridges Pack had. But that was their way of twisting the minds of the people. The reality is, Alpha Declan took more than gave”
Lauren could see that even Jasper could not deny how strong Declan’s forces had become. But she, too, could see how unfair it was for the other Alphas to be taken over after centuries of leading through generations of leaders and having the land from their forefathers.
But just like that, they were taken away from it.
Lauren had Alpha blood, but she could not fathom how hard it must be for the other Alphas to yield to someone else.
Declan had to be so strong for all of those Alphas to how down to his authority.
But it still remained a question to her. What happened? The last time she checked, Declan was indeed powerful and strong. Their pack has been the biggest and strongest in the South even when her parents were still alive.
But it seemed like Declan had become a menace for other people now. He has become a lot stronger. And they were conquering packs that weren’t theirs.
Does Harry know about this?
The thought of her former father–in–law created a pit in her stomach. She missed the man. He was the only family she ever considered. Even until
now.

And it would seem like she’d have the opportunity to see him soon.
prepare. Alpha
Declan and his Beta may say that they are here for just a mere meeting, but we have to take precaution. I might anger him for declining his so–called ‘help.”
Jasper told Fred who was now also on their porch as they started walking outside to prepare for Declan’s arrival
Lauren didn’t know what to feel about that. She never thought she’d have to face Declan ever again–well, at least not this way. That he’s become like an enemy to the other people that she considered family.
“Prepare the pack house and the people. We should at least notify them about another Alpha’s arrival.”
“Right away” Fred nodded and though they were still together, Lauren knew he was already running some command to the prople in the pack house for the emergency meeting through mindlink.
They were now going to the pack house. Lauren already called the twins‘ tutor while she asked many questions to Jasper. But now that she knew Declan was coming, she didn’t know whether she should be there to greet him
“Lauren Jasper looked at her when she stopped feilowing
She met his curious eyes. “I would appreciate it if you come with us. I’d need your guidance with this. And except for that, you are also one of our trainers in the pack. So your decision would matter.
Lauren’s wolf may have never come out, but she has become a great fighter along the years. It seemed like her lack of wolf had compensated for the skills she had gotten. She trained newly formed cadets for their combat skills and had been very well at doing it

But she really wasn’t sure whether she could see Declan now.
“I agree with Jasper, Lauren. And you were from the North. We’d need insights from what it was lik
was like there before he conquered the land.”
No one knew where exactly she came from and what her past was. All she told Jasper was she was from Blue Mountains Pack, the pack where her late father led, and that she was a survivor of an annihilated pack. She didn’t tell them she had a life after that. That she was married to the Alpha of Black Hidges Pack to save what was left of them, and that her children were also his.
She didn’t mean to keep it a secret. At that time, it was just too painful for her to talk about it. Until she just thought it wouldn’t really matter now that she’s gotten a new life ahead of hers and her children. The past wouldn’t matter.
But it seemed like it would now….
“Okay,” she finally nodded, seeing how despite the anger that was on Jasper and Fred’s eyes for Declan’s unwelcome visit, they still somehow felt
fear.
“But I can’t promise I’d be much of a help,” she added.
“You being there is enough support already, Jasper said, holding her hand and they proceeded to walk towards the pack house.
They saw
saw how the usually lively pack had gotten silent as tension filled the air.
The sun had started setting, as Jasper, Fred and her waited for the arrival of the feared Alpha of the North
As soon as the sun fell across the other parts of the Earth, Lauren immediately smelled something different. Something fragrant. Something she’s never smelled before.
It was in the woods. Fresh, masculine, but sweet. It was like a combination of all her favorite scents in one.
“They’re here. She heard Jasper say, but she was caught in the overwhelming feeling that suddenly struck her.
“What is this?” she asked herself. Lauren could feel her wolf walking around inside her head, becoming restless. But not in a bad way. As if she was excited.
She has never felt her wolf act this way before.
As if beckoning the darkness to accompany them, any last streak of light had gone away from the sky. The moon was up but the golden eyes she saw on the other side of where they were standing was enough to blind her.
The two large wolves that had come into their territory shifted. But it was enough for Lauren to see how huge they were, especially the pitch black one. His wolf was larger than any wolf she’s ever seen. Buffer and more muscular than any Alphas she’s ever seen.
And before she knew it, she was face to face with those blue eyes that were constantly in her mind even after all those years of leaving
“Alpha Declan,” Jasper called.
But instead of Declan greeting Jasper back, his entire attention was on Lauren. Those blue eyes of his piercing, as her insides swirled in an unexplainable pleasure.
“Lauren, we meet again,” he said, his deep voice making her wolf yelp in delight.
“Mate. He is our mate
Lauren froze, hearing her wolf speak for t

Of all the first words her wolf could mutter, she really chose ‘Mate
How twisted could this get!
Her mate was already in front of her eyes her entire life, even marrying him; only to have him hate her and divorce her. And even vowing to herself to never look back and hope for the both of them to ne
