But he quickly consoled himselt.
Grace had loved him for so long
They had been together for three years–not thuer days or
He knew better than anyone how much she had invested in their relationship
So now, he told himself, she was probably just too hurt, ton angry with him.
But to say she would truly let go of their relationship?
Paul didn’t believe it.
“Paul, if you keep drinking like this, do you want to die?”
“Do you know how worried everyone has been about you lately?”
A friend grabbed the bottle and tried to persuade him earnestly.
“We just called Helen. She’s on her way to take you home, Please, stop drinking, okay?”
Paul suddenly felt a wave of disgust at the mere mention of Helen’s name.
He shoved his friend aside and smashed the bottle onto the floor
“Who told you to call her? Did I ask her to come?
“She’s your girlfriend Who else should we call?
“What land of girlfriend is she to me?”
Paul let out a cold laugh.
“Do you not know who my real girlfriend is?”
The group exchanged uncertain glances.
“Paul, have you forgotten? You and Grace broke up.
“Yeah, and didn’t you tell us in the group chat to call Helen sister in law?”
“Grace even congratulated you two before leaving the chat.”
“Aren’t you and Helen supposed to be getting engaged?”
“There won’t be an engagement.”
Paul gestured for someone to open another bottle.
“Paul, you really shouldn’t drink any more.
“You think I’ll listen to you?
“No, you never listen to us. You’ve only ever listened to Grace.”
“If Grace were still here, you’d have gone home with her without a fuss and wouldn’t be drinking yourself into the hospital
Paul didact respond, but he didn’t deny it either.
One of his friends pulled out his phone.

But to everyone’s surprise, the call didn’t go through,
They all tried calling het ene by one
Every single one of their mumbers had been locked and deleted by Grace
The Toen fell into a sufferating silence
Paul sat on the sofa, his eyes like frust

“Anyone would feel wronged, anyone would find that unbearable.“
“She’s been living alone these past weeks *
“My cousin saw her leaving the cemetery after her mom’s anniversary. Her eyes were swollen from crying”
Paul, maybe you should go to her apartment and find her
Paul suddenly recalled the day Grace moved out of the family home.
She had dragged two enormous suitcases, leaving without looking back,
That house had once been hers, tho
thers, those people her family.
But over time, the house had become Helen and her mother’s
Her father had become Helen’s father.
And Paul, bewitched by Helen’s youthful charm, had discarded Grace like she was nothing.
At that moment, the image in Paul’s mind was of Grace’s last look at him.
Her gaze was calm, devoid of any emotion.
It was as if he were
ere just a stranger, an insignificant passerby in her life.
Paul abruptly stood up, ready to leave, but before he of

move, Helen pushed the door open and entered.
“Paul,” she called softly, her face carrying that same frail, timid expression
Her beautiful almond shaped eyes glistened as if tears could fall at any moment, making it easy for anyone to think she had been wronged.
“Why did you drink so much again? You’ll complain about a headache tomorrow.”
Helen walked over and clung to his arm, her voice gentle and full of concern
Paul was about to speak but stopped when he caught a familiar scent from her
His heart skipped a beat, and the hand he had intended to use to push her away froze mid–air
“Why does it smell so good?”
Paul’s sudden soft tone made Helen blush and beam with excitement.
“Bat the same brand as last tim?”
Helen’s smile faltered for a second, but she quickly nodded.

Outwardly, Helen looked delighted, but deep malle, an indescribalite resentient began to grow.
The perfume had come from Grace’s dressing room.
Originally, she had wanted to throw it all away, even though the bottles were high end and unopened.
That Paul only liked this particular scent.
When she had tried other fragrances, he had clearly shown his disdain.
So she had no choice but to keep using this one, even if she hated it.
“If you like it. I’ll use it every day.
Helen tilted her head, her alluring eyes shimmering, undenialily captivating.
But Paul’s expression suddenly changed.
Then, without warning, he shoved her away forcefully.
lelen was confused, and their friends were equally shocked.
“Helen
Paul looked at her with an expressionless face, his tone eerily calm
But anyone could tell that he was on the verge of exploding with anger.
“Paul, what’s wrong with you.”
Helen tried to step forward again, attempting to hold onto his arm.
This time, Paul raised his hand and slapped her hard across the face.
“Paul
“Paul, you hit me?” Helen clutched her cheek, tears streaming down her face grievance.
But Paul let out a cold laugh.
“Aren’t you allergic to peaches. Helen?”
“Didn’t you cry to me, saying Grace had someone put peach juice on your bed and nearly killed you?”
