Chapter 46
“Vout foutal me,” she
she mumbled, watching Declan walk towards her like the charming guy he has always been.
She secretly liked before how he always tried to find her whenever she’d sneak inside their library. As the Alpha family of Blue Mountains Pack, their visits in the Black Hislges always were about business–at least that’s the disguise of their fathers just so they could hang out from time to time. But it still wasn’t as often as Lauren liked.
many people present. She didn’t like how people looked at her, as if she was some weird person that
And whenever they visited, there were too i didn’t really get to have friends.
Lauren Bever understood why there were some people–just few, but enough in bother her–who looked at her weirdly. At first she thought it was because not all people knew Alpha Louis and Luna Kate had a child. Bearing a child was their issue for a couple of years despite being natural mates, and most Alphas knew about this.
existence came as a shock to most when the couple finally conceived. But as Lauren grew up, she felt like the people looked at her
So Lauren’s existence came weirdly
It even came to a point where his father almost had a light with another pack just because she cried at how uncomfortable she had gotten over the unnecessary attention she was getting.
It was the reason why every time there were Alpha meetings in the North, especially when it was held in Black Ridges Park, she often snuck somewhere where not many people were present so she could avoid any awkwardness. It’s the reason how she found the library.
But the library did not become just a safe space, it also became a private space for him and Declan, where their friendship and bond just got stronger as they conversed endlessly in their cute little spot behind all thick and tall shelves in the library.
But as she watched him walk towards her on the same spot they spent hours and hours of talking as young people, all she could remember was that one year she spent as his wife.
Unwanted. Unloved. Rejected. He couldn’t wait to get rid of her.
Lauren knew she had some other problem
problems present, like her mysterious trip that was she was trying to rack her brains for, but seeing Declan come to her, say the same words he used to say, and acting like he never made her feel insignificant, made her forget all about the other things in her head
She was drunk in the past again. And she didn’t know how to escape it. Her headache must be one reason for it. She put a hand on her temple and looked away as soon as he sat beside her on the floor.
She was
was supposed to get some kind of relaxation, the reason why she cae straight to the library. Just to get some semblance of peace before the got back to her once again messy and scary situation..
“Are you okay!” Decian was about to touch her cheek, when she moved away
Tve been asked that a million times these past few days.” She couldn’t help thesharpness in her tone. She was still very much confused about how she got in the forest. And how her headache had come again along with some images in her head.
Like bits and pieces of memories she forgot about. Like memories that were only passed on her. As if seen by a different set of eyes.
“I’m sorry.” Declan sputtered out in the silent library
muren didn’t move on her spot, feeling his warmth as they sat close by. He still felt the same–and she hated how many years had passed and she
But her reactions were different this time. She would have clung to him immediately before, But those feelings made her scared now. Loving Declan was a scary thing-
And she didn’t want to live in that fear anymore.
“It’s okay, it’s not your fault”

Chapter 46
Lauren looked away from his drowning blue eyes and looked at the entire library thigh the shelves around and in front of them.
“You told me your plans when you become Alpha. You said you’d do your best to get into other business ventures so your pack would never have. problems with supplies, especially during winter. You want to build establishments and make Black Ridges Pack become the center of the northern lands. You also wanted to claim those uncharted lands and rescue rogues, give them another chance. You told me how glad your father was when you proposed your ideas to him, and that you saw how excited he was for you. That you were happy, because you couldn’t see in Harry that he was worried about giving his authority to you.”
Lauren vividly remembered that day. Declan wasn’t the most excited guy over things, but that day, he looked so excited. He had this child–like manner of telling her all about his dreams for their pack once he became Alpha. His cold eyes were shining as he spoke to her.
Declan didn’t speak for a while and just looked at her. Lauren just continued staring in front as Declan continued holding her hand.
But she slowly pulled her hands away from him, burying the spurting emotions that were trying to crawl back up in her heart’s surface.
“You did all of those things now, All your dreams were fulfilled. You are probably the most successful Alpha in this generation.
“And! Why are you telling me this?” Declan finally asked, worry was sketched in his face.
Lauren avoided looking into his face. “Because I want to tell you that you don’t need to do this anymore. You don’t need to prove any thing to Harry anymore. You don’t need me. Declin
She held her tears, trying to be strong for the facts that she was doing her best to accept.
“The children.” she swallowed. “Damon and Dahlia will always be yours as much as they are mine. You need them, and I won’t hold them back from needing you, too.”

Declan kept silent. He couldn’t use his mouth t
to speak when his thoughts were blaring inside his head.
And that silence felt like a confirmation to Lauren. That she was right. He remembered that day the same way she did
She inhaled sharply, gathering all the courage she could while keeping her tears at bay.
“I’m sorry if I worried anyone. 1 could feel your worry from the matebond. But I told Yuan earlier that I was here. We actually met outside just as I
was about to come-
“You don’t know the things that I need, Lauren. So you can’t tell me what I don’t need. She was the one cut off this time.
She turned to him, and she saw how emotions flashed through those eyes that have always been a depth too deep for her to read, or too hard for her to get through.
Yet now, they were raw. Vulnerable. Letting her in and giving so many emotions out.
“I’m not a child anymore, Lauren. I no longer need my father’s approval. And I am not doing this for anything else. I need you back in my life.”
His words made the tears in her eyes gather up again. She looked away.
“Don’t. We’ve been in this situation before. I crossed the bridge that wasn’t supposed to be crossed in our friendship, and look what it’s done to us”
Lauren stood up from the floor and started walking away. But Declan was quick and held her by
by the arm.
“If us, realizing we were mates, wasn’t enough sign for you that we were destined for each other, then I don’t know what else to tell you just so you’d see that breaking up was a mistake.” Declan pulled her closer, making her turn her eyes on him.
