Chapter 60
For some unknown reason, the air felt colder since she had that encounter with the tall vampire. Even her dreams felt a little different than they usually wrie
The atmosphere was dimmer and colder. But she couldn’t pinpoint where that coldness came from.
Lauren hugged herself as the crowd watched the three candidates for their new kingdom’s king. Everyone was waiting for the representative from the South. The challenges were going to begin and everyone was already set. It almost felt like there was some kind of fest slash battle in their pack as high energy and tension filled their air.
But Lauren still knew it wasn’t what was causing the shift of temperature she could feel
It hasn’t been announced yet who was coming from the South, but she was sure Jasper was going to be it.
She promised to herself to welcome Jasper once he comes, but ever since Lauren opened the window from her room this morning, she felt cold. As if there was a huge pile of ice around their area and a huge fan was blowing on it affecting their air’s temperature.
Or at least that’s what she felt, because almost everyone in the pack wore their normal clothes. As northern people, cold weather was nothing new to them. They were somehow immune to it with the help of their warmer wolves.
But as a fellow northern wolf, Lauren knew this wasn’t the normal cold. It wasn’t even winter yet.
“Are you alright, my dear?”
Lauren’s head snapped on the side when she heard Glory. The elder healer gave her E
I smile, but her eyes were already scanning her face.
“You look cold, she observed.
“I feel cold.” Lauren admitted.
“May 12”
Lauren nodded when the healer gestured about touching her neck. Glory immediately felt how cold she was. She withdrew her hand.
“Have
you taken the medications I gave you?” Lauren immediately recalled taking the tablet Glory gave her.
She nodded. “Every morning like you said.”
Glory’s forehead creased, seeing the sweat that broke on Lauren’s temples
Sine shook her head. “I know you’re waiting for your former Alpha to arrive but I’m afraid I have to get you to the clinic to get checked. You must have gotten something from that vampire. Or worse, that venom you once contracted may have finally gotten into your system.”
Lauren just nodded and followed the healer when she started walking towards the infirmary. She could feel her knees start to tremble at how cold she had been feeling since this morning.
“Ah…” she moaned when her bite scar suddenly pulsed. It felt hot–burning. But it was so brief like a prick, but it left a burning sensation around her skin.
“Come on.” Glory urged her when she slowed down. Lauren just pushed her fingers on her scar to massage it.
“Now sit down and let me check your well–being
Lauren kept silent and just followed whatever the healer was telling her. She knew she knew better,
“Tell me specifically what you’re feeling” Glory asked as soon as she started putting up a flashlight in front of her face. She pulled her lids slightly and checked her eyeballs as if she was a doctor in the human community.
“Just cold. My knees are trembling Lauren put a hand on her knee and she felt how cold she had gotten.
“What’s happening to me, Glory!”
“That’s what I’m trying to know. Lay down for me.”
Lauren quickly followell her instruction, but her scar once again pulsated in heat that she grimaced and paused.
“Hey, tell me what’s happening” Glory quickly assisted her in laying down on the bed as she continued groaning in pain.
“Hot. At first it felt just a small prick, but now it’s piercing. It’s painful Lauren continued grimacing as Glory made her lay flat on the bed.
Lauren started inhaling and exhaling properly when cold and warnal battled within her skin.

She felt like there was fighting inside her. Something was trying to invade her.
she closed her eyes and focused on her breathing exercise as Glory started patting on her skin. She was just starting to calm down when her mind suddenly flashed an image in her head.
Lauren opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling
Why would she suddenly see Vivienne in her head?
“Your cold sweat is starting to subside. Still cold” Glory asked, watching Lauren frown at the ceiling
“Lauren, dear!” She called again when the latter did not respond.
Lauren still couldn’t understand what she just saw. She hadn’t seen Vivienne since yesterday. She hadn’t seen the woman since she woke up this morning. She knew she was as bus as the other Council people, but to see her like that
She snapped out of her thoughts when Glory tapped her leg. Glory raised a brow when she looked at her.
“1–uhm. I feel a little better. Thank you.”
What happened? Please do tell so I could monitor you. You know you’re considered a weird case, right?
Lauren sighed and sat up from the bed. “I just had some weird image in my head”
“Goon” Glory urged. Lauren suddenly tensed when the healer put a small chair beside her bed as if they were going to have a long conversation about what she saw.
“It was nothing–I bet. It was very random. I don’t even know how I thought of that”
The healer looked at her. Lauren felt conscious being scrutinized under Glory’s sharp eyes. She felt like with how wise the healer was, she would know what was out her mind.
“Can you tell me what it was!”
Lauren fidgeted. “I–It wasn’t much.”
nd she just exhaled loudly
Glory nodded, but she didn’t let it go. Seeing that the healer was persistent on observing even her mind.
“I just randomly saw an image of Viv–Miss Vivienne standing between some large trees. She had this odd smile while some shadows stood behind her. And they looked like they were talking to her.”
Lauren shrugged. “But it was nothing. I know it was nothing. It’s just weird that I had that image in my head–I wasn’t even dreaming.”
“Hmm” Glory nodded slowly. She also couldn’t quite figure out what was happening to Lauren.
That was indeed odd.”
“Well,” Lauren looked down on her finger, oddly curious about one thing.
“Have you seen her today?” The healer nodded.
“Yes. Our houses are actually close by and while she doesn’t come home often. I saw her earlier. She wasn’t in the forest, she was inside her room. I just saw her when she opened her window and grabbed a purple shirt that was hung on her balcony Glory chuckled and shook her head.
“For sortirone so rich and elegant, Miss Viv surely is just the same as we are. Getting her laundry from outside her room after naturally air–drying it
outside her window”
Glory continued shaking her head in amusement at the thought of the smart, but strict and rich lady Councilor Vivienne, doing her laundry the
