The door to the packhouse suddenly opened and came in Declan

“That breach is not something we are going to take lightly. I will announce further the measures we will be doing to keep everyone safe, especially our children and those who are vulnerable. The vampires not only invaded our pack once, but twice this week. They might start thinking I am getting comfortable with their presence. They are in need of a reminder of who they are up against.”
Lauren could feel the anger in Declan’s tone. She realized that he had acted all calm carlier when they were in the woods. His leadership was showing with the way he was handling all of these today.
“Beta Yuan,” he turned to his best friend who quickly stood in attention to his call. His presence was so dominant that Lauren was also urged to suddenly stand taller.
The casual demeanour that the latter had also o shifted into a more serious and hard one
“Make sure all the borders are secured. Have everything double–checked and double the guards present.”
“Right away, Alpha.” Yuan nodded.
Declan turned to his Council whose attention was also on him. That’s when Lauren knew that these men respected Declan no matter who they were before or what they wanted.
“The rest of you secure the insides of the pack and warn all the regions about the vampires audacity to even step a foot in my territory,”
“I know it’s the last thing we need to discuss, one Councilman suddenly spoke. It was Gino, who questioned Lauren’s presence earlier. “But what about the choosing of the king? We need to make this quick, as soon as we can
“The security of everyone is the utmost priority” Declan firmly stated. The Choosing will begin at further notice. As of now, we do not have a definite time for that. Just make sure everyone knows what these vampires are up to. If they want to play a game, they bet I know how to play.”
Everyone started moving as was instructed, and soon enough, the packhouse became a busy mess as the Council came in and out for reports.
Lauren decided to head upstairs where the twins were.
“Lauren,” someone called. She looked behind her and saw Glory and Sarah, watching
Til visit you later, okay? This is a good opportunity for you to have a good rest. Glory said, making Lauren nod,
(
Thanks, Glory” She smiled at the latter.
“It was nice meeting you, Lauren. My mother has told me many things about you.” She turned to Sarah when the latter spoke. A vibrant smile was on her angelic face.
“I hope they’re not about something bad.” She joked a bit, just to lighten the mood up. Sarah and Glory chuckled.
“Of course not. My mother would never tell such things–well, except for that one time you were a one stubborn patient.
“That,” Lauren pointed at her with a unile. “I can agree on.” All three of them chuckled.
“But thanks to your mother’s persistence I am alive and well now.” Lauren het Glory’s smiling eyes. “I promise to do my best not to be as stubborn.

Lauren shook her head while she chuckled with them. “I’ll see you la

The two nodded at her before Lauren decided to continued her way towards her chilien. Once she was in front of their room, Lauren started
The creaking sound filled the room, its hinges old and rusty, last reliable.
Lauren entered the room, expecting the squrals and screams she lud grown to love, but none came.
Instead, what welcomed her was Damon and Dahlia sleeping on their bed, side by side, looking in the opposite direction.

Lauren sighed and smiled. Cute little humans,
They must have been exhausted of playing, she thought as she saw the dirt and sweat still glistening in their skin–particularly Damon’s,
She smiled and kissed her son’s head before getting some wet wipes and wiped them, just so they wouldn’t feel that sticky once they woke up.

Finishing that, Lauren put a blanket over them and took their shoes that had just sprawled all over the carpet.
Cleaning their space, Lauren silently observed the room. She has never used this room before when she used to live here, but it still brought back memories. Specifically memories of their early teenage years.
Occupied with her thoughts, Lauren suddenly found herself looking out the window where the trees and the grounds were very much clear. It was alost the same view she had in her own re
Folding some clothes silently, she let her mind calm and wander. The negative feelings she had been getting since the morning was something she didn’t want to continue feeling right now–especially right now that the park had just been invaded.
But all of a sudden, Lauren suddenly saw a very quick figure. Dark like a shadow, and swift as the wind
She stood up from her seat, ready to light off anyone to protect her children, when she suddenly saw herself being in the same room of her nightmares.
She froze, not just in shock, but in fear.”
What was happening?
*You are no stranger to sorrow, You understand loss more than anyone. But that didn’t make it less painful. You would do anything to make it go away, wouldn’t you!”
“Who’s there?” She asked, but whether she turned to the side or behind her, the same view in the living room, where her parents laid in the pool of their own blood, was everything her eyes could see.
*I can make it go away. I know and understand, unlike the people you are with. Unlike Declan, who’s only seen victory and his wants granted. You do not need a selfish man like that. Look,” the voice suddenly made her focus on the events playing around her.
“Look how he abandoned you and indulged in his self interest. Lauren saw how Declan, instead of immediately going to her, stood on his feet and watched with a mixture of worry, fear and amazement as Harry’s wolf chased down the vampire.
