Chapter 77
It was weird having to go to your past just so you could go on with your future. Lauren didn’t know what exactly she was feeling as they towards an old familiar place.
The place where she once called home.
“You can tell me to go back and we’ll immediately go back to Black Ridges if you want to” Declan held her hand as she looked out of the window
They had been driving for almost an hour now and she was already very much familiar with the woods that they were surrounded with.
There was a sense of dread in her upon the thought of seeing the place where her nightmares usually were, but accompanied with it was a sense of assurance she didn’t know where it’s rooting from
So she smiled and gripped on Declan’s hand. “It’s okay. I want this. I think I need this.
Declan stared at her and saw how determination was clear in her sweet brown eyes. There was also fear in it, but he knew she really wanted this. Needed this.
This was a dangerous time for all of them, but he would do anything for his wife. He would protect her at all costs.
“Okay. I’ll be here” He kissed the back of her hand, making sure she’d feel his presence and comfort now that they were going back to her old pack
Blue Mountains Pack
Lauren watched through the car window the entrance of the pack where she grew up in She thought she would feel the initial fright upon seeing the lands again, but what she felt was gratitude.

Warmth caressed in her heart once her eyes set on the wooden gate that surrounded the windmill they had in th food storage was during the winter season. She used to climb on it and play inside the yard
The car stopped and as soon as she set a foot on the place, Lauren immediately felt like she was the 1 mother and father as their pack’s leaders.
10 year old Lauren who had started seeing her
She appreciated their home much more when she realized that it was her family that had kept it organized and safe all throughout the years.
And around that time, she also realized she had feelings for Dedan. Her childhood best friend.
“Hey,” her eyes that had been staring at everywhere and everything went to him when she felt him touch her hand.
“I want to go to our house,” she said, her breath taken away from the overwhelming emotions she was feeling.
Declan hasn’t even responded yet when she started walking towards the center of the pack.
Overgrown grass and abandoned wooden containers were all over the place. The place had been tidied up after the attack that destroyed the place and ended Blue Mountains as a pack on the western side of the north.
She knew it was messier than this during that night. She was here to witness all of it
The dread that she was fearing to come suddenly started piling inside her heart. She stopped in her steps dice she was in front of their old home- the home of her nightmares
“You’re doing great. Lauren” Declan encouraged when he saw her hesitate.
T–The Stranger put me here. It was so alive when I was here,” she swallowed, feeling her throat dry–with the emotions groping her. She looked at the window where she saw her mother and father in that world the Stranger put her in
“It was all to make you stay and trapped in his power. It wasn’t real, Lauren” Declan put a hand on her shoulder, making sure she wouldn’t get lost in her head again.
He realized that siger she was bitten by a vampire in Rocky Mountains Pack, she had been getting the same dreams over and over again. As per their assessment of the situation, Glory said that it must be a Stranger who attacked her that night.
That the reason why she wasn’t dead nor had any other physical effects after that bite was because it may not be venom. It may be a Stranger’s evence that was inserted in her. And it had its latest attempt to trap her recently.
He was beyond grateful he was on time to stop it. For once, he was able to save her from danger. A thing he wasn’t able to do for the live years of their marriage.
Lauren took a step towards her old home. Her gaze landed on the scratched up blur, wooden door in front of her.
Swallowing her fears, she took another step and pushed the broken door open.

Cold air whooshed through her entire body. Despite the daylight outside, the entire place looked dark. Slivers of gave away the chans that had settled in the place before it was abandoned.
went through the cracks that
arting to overrule her consciousness again.
“S–she was there…she whispered, speaking just to scramble her way through her thoughts that were starting to
Declan nodded behind her, also remembering the scene when both him and his father barged in to rescue them. But they were too late.
“I remember,” he said and just watched Lauren. He was afraid she’d breakdown on she might not be able to withstand the remains of the Stranger’s power in her head.
But he had faith that Lauren wasn’t someone to be underestimated with. She was stronger than anyone knew. Stronger than he could even imagine.
Giving her space, he let her walk and kept silent as she took everything in. The still quiteness went on for a while, and he was just waiting for her
reaction.
Then it happened.
She clenched her fists. Declan was ready to reach out to her and comfort her. One word from her and he would run to her.
But Lauren shook her head and released her clenched fists.
“I won’t waste
the life the
they gave me. Mom and Dad made sure I was safe, even when it cost them their lives.”
They did” Declan walked towards her and touched her arm. He felt that his touch was welcome, so he let his hand rest on her back.
“I want to give them justice.”
“We will. I will make sure we will give it to them.”
Lauren turned to him, and he was almost taken aback by how clear anger and determination was in the eyes of the usually gentle and comforting woman he loved.
“I will give them back what they gave to my parents. I will find that vampire who tortured and killed them in front of me.”
Declan could only nod. He could sense how revenge was all that she was wanting at the moment.
He caressed her hand. “We will do it together. Father also wants revenge for them.”
As if not hearing his words, Lauren snapped her head towards the spo where she said her mother was last seen alive.
“That devil’s misuke was he let me live. Now, I’m going to hunt them down.”
Declan could only stare at his wife. He has seen her angry a few times, but he has never felt any vengeful spirit in her.
But this time, he could quite po
point out the fire in her eyes.
In the angle he was watching her, he could vaguely see that her eyes had turned red. But as soon as she blinked, they turned a warm brown again
Declan shook his head.
“Maybe it was just her pure determination that lit up her eyes, he thought as the
image of her red eyes stuck in his head.
