Brynn froze. She thought it kind of made her look petty, so instead, she took her hand back.
“Not mad anymore?” Dominic chuckled at her expression and, without wating for masser, scooped her up into his ar
Brynn let out a startled yelp, “What are you doing?”
“You’re not feeling well, so of course, I have to take care of you; Dominic answered with a smirk.
Brynn stunned, before her face flushed red. She found this way too weird
“Put me down already,” she squirmed, her face burning, I’m not a child! I don’t need you to help me freshen up
“Stop moving, or…” Dominic warned, his eyes held a dangerous glint, even firty. His intention was crystal dear
Brynn immediately stiffened. ‘No way. I am not doing this again first thing in the morning
Seeing that she had finally stopped struggling, Dominic smirked and carried her into the bathroom. He laid a towel over the counter before carefully setting her down.
Turning on the faucet, he adjusted the water temperature, squeezed some toothpaste onto a toothbrush and started brushing her teeth.
As he did, he even asked in a low voice, “Too hard? Need me to go softer?”
Brynn didn’t even know how to reply. She frantically shook her head.
After brushing her teeth, Dominic wiped her face. His fingertips brushed against her cheek. They were so close that when their eyes met, and she could feel the heat in his gaze intensify.
No, it’s not the time for another round!‘ thought Brynn to herself. Without further thinking, she shoved Dominic away.
Smack!
“Ugh!” Caught off guard, Dominic stumbled backward and bumped into the shower door.
“I’m sorry!” Brynn gasped. But she didn’t dare stick around. She bolted out of the bathroom.
She didn’t even have time for breakfast–she threw on some clothes, grabbed her bag, and fled. Otherwise, she was

When she arrived at the office, she had just stepped in when her assistant, Jenna, greeted her.
“Good morning, Ms. Everett,” Jenna smiled at her while greeting.
But as soon as getting a good look at Brynn, Jenna frowned. “Ms. Everett, why are you walking like that? Are you hurt?”
Brynn lost her words. Of course, she couldn’t tell Jenna the truth–it was way too embarrassing,
“Oh, I just… tripped,” she said, forcing a laugh as her face heated up.
Jenna, however, looked unconvinced. A fall? Then why was she walking… like that? And why was she blushing so much?
A sudden thought popped into Jenna’s head–was Ms. Everett a victim of domestic violence? Was that why she was too ashamed to talk about it?
Scenes from countless dramatic TV shows flashed through Jenna’s mind. If Ms Everett was suffering like this, she had to help.
“Ms. Everett…” Jenna hesitated, struggling to find the right words.
Brynn frowned. “What’s wrong?”
She found Jenna looking at her strangely. ‘What’s with that?‘ she wondered. ‘Did Dominic forget to wipe off the toothpaste when he washed my face?‘
“Ms. Everett, I just want to say that… you’re beautiful and capable. Please don’t let anyone mistreat you,” Jenna finally said cautiously.
But this only got Brynn even more confused. Just as she was about to ask what Jenna meant, her stomach suddenly grumbled.
Jenna’s expression immediately darkened. ‘Ms. Everett’s husband didn’t even let her eat breakfast? What a jerk, she couldn’t help but swore in her mind.
“Ms. Everett, I have some bread. If you need to eat some…” Jenna asked sympathetically.
Before Brynn could respond, an annoying voice chimed in. “You haven’t had breakfast yet, Brynn?”
Both Brynn and Jenna turned to see Kylie strutting over, her makeup flawless and her posture exaggeratedly elegant.
“Chase is just too much! He made all this food for me by himself,” said Kylie. She stopped in front of them and waved a fancy lunchbox in Brynn’s face.
She put extra emphasis on “by himself“, looking smug as ever. But Brynn and Jenna only exchanged unimpressed looks.
What a lunatic, both Brynn and Jenna rolled their eyes. ‘Acting up so early in the morning!
“I can share some with you, Brynn,” Kylie added sweetly.
Brynn’s expression remained blank. “No thanks.”
She couldn’t be bothered dealing with Kylie’s childish antics. But in Kylie’s mind, Brynn’s refusal meant she was too upset to
eat.
Feeling triumphant, Kylie was about to leave when the receptionist suddenly burst in, looking excited. “Mr. Everett, your
