“Hey, hey, what are you talking about? I’m not the kind of girl who whispers sweet nothings to get my way!” Brynn blushed furiously, making a quick exit. “Never mind, I have work to do. I’m out!”
With a wave, she hurried into the office building.
Dominic watched her retreating figure, a smile playing on his lips as she practically fled in embarrassment.
‘Looks like I need to wait until she’s a bit more emotionally prepared… he mused to himself.
Otherwise, the wife he had so painstakingly won over might just run for the hills when she found out about his true identity.

Meanwhile, Brynn, back at the office, calmed herself down and prepared to confront Kylie.
She had challenged Brynn’s patience one too many times, and Brynn had a temper too.
She marched towards Kylie’s office, ready for a showdown.
But just as she reached the door, before she could even open it, Kylie’s shrill voice pierced through the wood.
… Are you crazy? I’m warning you, don’t come looking for me again. Get lost!”
Brynn paused, her hand hovering in the air.
‘She’s… arguing with someone?‘
‘Maybe I should come back later.‘
Brynn turned to leave, but Kylie’s next words stopped her in her tracks.
“The Blazes have nothing to do with me! What ‘my dad‘? You want me to take care of him? Dream on! Even if that old kicks the bucket, I won’t spare him a glance! Get out! You’re nothing but trash!”
‘The Blazes… Dad…‘
Those words made Brynn’s eyebrows furrow slightly….
But she didn’t rush in.

Even if there was a blood relation, Kylie had been with them for over twenty years. What if… they didn’t accept her?

Josh Blaze, hearing Kylie’s outrageous words, stared at her in disbelief.
That was their father!
How could she be so indifferent?
“What’s it to me?” Kylie snapped back rudely. “You think a bunch of lowlifes like you deserve to be my family? Don’t make me laugh!”

“How can you be so heartless?” Josh was about to lose it. He paced back and forth, muttering under his breath. “Dad got those aftereffects from a car accident because you insisted on having ice cream late at night, and now you’re saying he should just die? How could you say something so cruel!”
Kylie rolled her eyes. “He’s the one who didn’t watch where he was going! Why blame it on me?”
“You f… “Josh wanted to curse, but he swallowed the words, realizing it wouldn’t be right. “Dad always spoiled you rotten! Don’t you remember? When you were nine, you had a fever that wouldn’t break. Dad sold his precious stamp collection to pay for your hospital visit! And when you were ten, to celebrate your birthday, Dad…”
“Enough!” Kylie couldn’t take it anymore and cut Josh off, furious and embarrassed. “Are you done yet? What are you trying to do? Guilt–trip me? Being poor is your original sin. Don’t give me that crap! I’m telling you, I’m never going back to the Blaze family. I’m not cut from the same cloth as you people. I was born for wealth and luxury. Unlike you, who’ll be poor and miserable your whole lives!”
Hearing Kylie repeatedly use terms like “lowlifes” and “poor and miserable, Josh’s heart completely chilled.
“Fine… fine, fine! You look down on the Blaze family who raised you, huh? Alright. I’ll never come looking for you again.”
With that, Josh stormed out of the office, not even looking back.
Brynn, hiding behind the door, watched Josh leave. She hesitated, but ultimately didn’t follow him.
From what he said, it was clear that the Blazes still cared about Kylie.
As for her, their biological daughter… they probably didn’t care much.
Otherwise, why hadn’t they come looking for her after all this time?
As Brynn felt a wave of disappointment, inside the office, Kylie was also panicking.
When she returned to the Everett family, she had lied, claiming that her life with the Blazes had been terrible and that her parents had treated her badly, all to make the Everetts love her more.
If they found out that the Blazes had actually been good to her, their attitude towards her might change.
