I dragged my broken leg, but the robber
slapped me hard!
My head spun, my left ear throbbed!
“Sis!”
Lily screamed, tears streaming down her face,
struggling.
My heart broke. I hated Dad for ignoring our
danger to be with Tiffany!
I lunged, biting his wrist, praying for the
police.
The robber was hurt; he raged.
He released Lily, slapping me twice!
A tooth flew out!
My mouth bled; the pain made me dizzy.
“Don’t hurt my sister!”

Lily cried, grabbing an ashtray and smashing
it on the robber’s head!
But it didn’t faze him.
He grabbed Lily’s wrist and twisted it!
“Damn girl, you’re asking for it!‘

He pressed her to the sofa, ripping her shirt!
The ripping sound tore through me, “Don’t
touch my sister!”
Lily screamed.
I struggled to my feet, grabbed the ashtray
and smashed it again on the robber’s head!
“Lily, run!”
The robber stumbled, falling on his butt.
I grabbed Lily, the car keys, and ran!
There was a car in the yard. If I got to
security…
But as I reached the door, a strong hand
grabbed me, a knife flashed!
“Sis! Go!!”
Lily threw herself at the robber, knocking him

A long gash appeared on her white face!
“No! Lily, I can’t leave you!”
Her tears mixed with blood, urging me on.
“Close the door and run!! Find Dad! Security!!
Get help!!”
My heart shattered!
But I couldn’t stay. Tears streaming, I
slammed the door and ran.
