Chapter 79
Gary quickly called his friend right after throwing Kylie out.
“I ran into a fraud, and, where’s the real Divine Doctor’s apprentice?
On the other end of the line, Dr. Caldwell sounded a bit helpless. “I was just about to tell you, but you rushed to kick her

“Alright, alright, my mistake” Gary was too impatient to argue. “Just tell me where the real apprentice ist

“It’s the young lady who was arguing with the fake one,” Dr. Caldwell said with a hint of amusement. “Do you realize just how blind you were?*
Gary was dumbfounded.
Mistaking someone else for the Divine Doctor’s apprentice right in front of the real one? This was beyond embarrassing!
His face burned with shame, but he had no time to bicker with his old friend. He hurriedly ended the call and rushed downstairs.
After asking the hotel staff, he finally found Brynn’s private dining room. Taking a deep breath, he knocked on the door.
“Please come in.”
As soon as he stepped in and met Brynn’s gaze, he immediately apologized. “I sincerely apologize, Ms. Everett. It was my fault for being so blind and mistaking someone else for you.”
“It’s alright, Brynn replied with a gentle smile. “I should have explained myself earlier to prevent the misunderstanding. You don’t have to blame yourself, sir.”
Gary was even more impressed by her considerate demeanor.
The difference was striking. Compared to Kylie’s crude arrogance, Brynn was the epitome of grace and elegance. She commanded respect effortlessly.
Still, despite his growing admiration, a trace of doubt lingered in his mind.
How could the Divine Doctor’s apprentice be so young?
Could someone so young have truly mastered the long–lost Flowing Technique?
But regardless of his doubts, he knew better than to voice them aloud.
Just as he was about to bring up a few medical inquiries, a commotion erupted downstairs.
Among the voices, he could distinctly hear Kylie’s shrill complaints.
Gary frowned, his irritation toward her reaching new heights.
He was about to get up when Brynn stopped him.
“I’ll handle it,” she said. “This is between her and me. There’s no need for you to get involved.”
With that, she rose and headed downstairs.
The moment she reached the lobby, she saw an elegantly dressed woman cradling a motionless child in her arms, her voice trembling with urgency.

“Zoe, Zoe, wake up! Please, sweetheart, don’t scare met
The woman shook the little girl gently, but Zoe remained unresponsive. Frantic, she pulled out her phone to dial for an ambulance.
Before she could, however, Kylie rolled her eyes and snatched the phone from her hand.
“Old lady, quit the act, will you? I barely bumped into your granddaughter, and now she’s pretending to be unconscious? You think I’m an idiot?”
Already frustrated from being thrown out earlier, Kylie was in an even fouler mood now.
“You think you can scam me? Not a chance!”
“That’s not true! We’re not trying to scam you!” Mrs. Johnson desperately reached for her phone. “Give it back! I need to call for help!”
Kylie easily dodged her and sneered down at her.
“Scammers always say they’re innocent. Do you think I’m stupid enough to believe you?”
The lady was so anxious that she felt that the woman in front of her was really hateful.
“My granddaughter has a heart condition! Please, just let me call an ambulance!”
“Oh, what a coincidence. Out of all the people here, I just happened to bump into a kid with a heart problem?”
As their argument escalated, Zoe suddenly began convulsing violently. A few seconds later, white foam bubbled from her lips.
“Zoe!”
Mrs. Johnson panicked, her hands trembling as she gently patted the girl’s face. But Zoe remained unconscious, her small body twitching.
“Zoe, please! Stay with me!” Tears streamed down the old woman’s face as desperation swallowed her whole.
“Hah! What a performance,” Kylie sneered. “If you’re this good at acting, why not try your luck in Hollywood instead of scamming people?”
Mrs. Johnson ignored her completely, holding the convulsing Zoe helplessly in her arms, drowning in fear and regret.
She never should have brought Zoe to Portmare alone.
If she hadn’t come, this never would have happened.
If anything happened to Zoe… she would never forgive herself.
What should she do?
How could she save Zoe?
Just as Mrs. Johnson was losing all hope, a calm yet firm voice cut through the chaos. “Holding her like that will only make the foam back up and block her airway. Lay her flat on the ground. Quickly!”
