Chapter 425
Ralph was terrified of saying the wrong thing and provoking Harvey’s wrath again.
“Mr… Mr. Beau told me to set the fire… He hoped both Ms. Jones and you, Mr. Fisher, would rush into the burning building to save him. He wanted to use this chance to… to reconcile you two.”
Ralph pleaded with a pained expression. “I never expected the materials on the auditorium’s top floor weren’t fireproof! Mr. Fisher, I was careless–please, I beg you, help me!”
Just then, an officer pushed the door open and announced from the doorway, “Mr. Leonard, Xavier’s guardian, has arrived with his appointed lawyer.”
As soon as the officer finished speaking, a tall, imposing figure strode in. Harvey, who was still seated, lifted his gaze and met the sharp, striking features of a man who flashed him a smirk.
Dressed in a sleek gunmetal–gray suit, Theodore exuded an icy yet unrestrained aura. His dark eyes were gleaming with arrogance. Harvey’s attention was fixed on the peacock brooch pinned to Theodore’s left lapel.
Casually, Harvey tugged at his sleeve, revealing the Jaeger–LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon phase watch—a gift from Elara on one of his birthdays. Then again, he couldn’t remember which one.
Truthfully, he could have asked Niamh. She always kept meticulous track of every present he ever received from Elara.
But ever since Niamh drugged herself and tried to force herself on him, Harvey had shown her the utmost mercy by not turning her over to the police. Now, he had blocked every single one of her contacts.
In the blink of an eye, Theodore stood before him.
He handed Harvey a business card. “I’m the legal representative of Mr. Leonard Fisher, here regarding the incident involving his ward, Xavier, who was trapped in the auditorium during the fire.”
Harvey rested his hands on the armrests of his chair, exuding the commanding presence of a king surveying his domain. It was as if the entire world lay beneath his gaze.
He reached out and took the card from Theodore. Though they had known each other for years, their relationship had never gone beyond surface–level interactions–like two apex predators circling each other, wary and assessing.
Moreover, Harvey had long sensed that Theodore operated outside the usual circles of power in the Capitol. There had even been moments when Harvey felt like prey under Theodore’s scrutiny.
Theodore, heir to the Snapp’empire, had always seemed poised to devour him. In the past, Harvey dismissed it as paranoia.
But once his guard was up, he built an impenetrable wall against the man. Now that Theodore stood before him as a lawyer, Harvey coldly glanced at the embossed lettering on the card.
“Theodore Snapp. Partner. Polaris Law Firm”
“Polaris… Did you name the firm?”
Harvey had known about Theodore’s law practice for years, but seeing those words now inexplicably grated on him.
The man before him leaned casually against the desk, one hand tucked in his trouser pocket as he answered with a knowing smile.

“Yes. It’s from a poem I heard before.”
His smile deepened as he recited, “I as Polaris, you as the moon. Glowing together through night’s tender swoon.
“When moonlight fades, my star stays true. Keeping its light to welcome you, till the fifteenth shines us both anew.”
Harvey’s pitch–black eyes darkened–something violent and primal fracturing behind his composed mask.
