Chapter 9
“At the same time, you were able to monitor everything in real–time through the hospital’s surveillance cameras.”
“And when you saw that I wasn’t saving my daughter, you must have been frantic on the other side of that surveillance camera, weren’t you?”
“So, as soon as I left, you immediately sent the people you had arranged nearby to rescue your daughter right away.”
“Isn’t that exactly what happened?”
I raised my voice for that last sentence. My cold, piercing gaze locked onto Andrew.
Andrew’s entire demeanor faltered and his hands that were hanging by his sides could not stop trembling.
For a moment, he seemed to have no words left to defend himself and simply stared at
- me.

It was as if Andrew was staring at a
complete stranger, someone he had never met before.
Seizing the moment, Ruby quickly retorted, “Do you even know what you’re saying?”
“If things really happened the way you’re claiming, then why is Lila still dead?”
I turned to face Ruby directly.
“Shouldn’t I be asking you that question?”
“You’re the one who pushed her into the swimming pool. You’re the one who killed her with your own hands!”
The air in the room seemed to freeze as a gasp spread through the crowd.
Everyone was utterly shocked.
Ruby appeared as though she had been struck by lightning. She staggered backward, her voice trembling with guilt masked as an annoyance.

“Y–you’re talking nonsense!”
“Why would you accuse me of such a thing?”
“What proof do you have to say such a ridiculous thing?”
Watching her desperate attempt to deny the truth, I let out a cold laugh before pulling out my phone.
“Fine. Since you want proof…”
“…then I will give you proof.”
Without hesitation, I tapped on the screen and played a video for everyone to see.
On the screen, the video showed Ruby pushing Lila forcefully into the swimming pool in my backyard.
As Lila fell into the water, she flailed and struggled, screaming desperately for help.
As if panicked that Lila’s cries would attract attention, Ruby leaned over and pressed Lila’s head down into the water.

In this way, Ruby held Lila down in the water, pressing her until the child drowned.
Throughout the entire process, Ruby’s actions were deliberate and unhesitating.
When Lila finally stopped struggling, Ruby’s face revealed a cunning and cruel expression.
That look of cold–hearted ferocity was entirely different from the pitiful and kind persona she had been carefully pretending to show all along.
As the video played, the live broadcast camera quickly zoomed in on Ruby’s face, capturing her frightened and panicked expression in detail.
In an instant, the comment section of the livestream exploded with disbelief and outrage.
[Holy crap, just look at her! Did she actually kill the child?]

[Isn’t this woman terrifying? She drowned a child without even blinking!]
[She fooled me into thinking she was a kind person, especially when she begged for her best friend in front of the camera. Turns
out she’s a monster!]
[Exactly! I even cried for her!]
[It’s horrifying to think about. Without this video, someone like her could have gotten away with murder!]
The flood of comments expressed shock, condemning Ruby as a heartless and terrible person.
Meanwhile, everyone at the scene was overcome with rage. Their angry, piercing gazes seemed sharp enough to cut through Ruby herself.
Trying to suppress the growing panic in her heart, Ruby argued back with forced confidence.
“Stop twisting the truth to frame me!”

“You think you can ruin me with a fake video?”
“Doesn’t this yard have surveillance cameras? I demand to see the footage from them!”
I stared at her coldly and responded directly, “There’s no need for your request. I’ve already handed over all the videos, including the surveillance footage you tampered with in advance, to top technicians for verification.”
“Whether the evidence is real or not, we‘ 11 find out soon enough.”
At this point, Ruby’s calm expression completely crumbled. She could no longer hide the fear and panic flashing through
her eyes.
