Chapter 52
“Go check exactly how much is in it,” Angelina said, not because she had any specific reason
to know because she was curious about the amount.
but
What she said amused Chester.
“How impatient.
“Maybe there’s only 50 thousand dollars in it.”
“A card like this holds a minimum amount of one million and a maximum of two million.”
In other words, there wouldn’t be less than a million or more than two million.
“What about the others? Try opening them.”
Chester never cared about such things, but here Angelina was, lying in bed with a sickly look,
yet her eyes sparkled with a greedy gleam that caught his eye.
Alexander and the others had planned this, all sending identical cards.
Angelina was so excited she didn’t know what she should do. “All of this money…
“It’s all yours. Keep it for yourself.
Angelina had been thinking the same, but hearing Chester say that made her feel uneasy.
“How can I? Should I really keep that much money myself?”
“You don’t have to feel bad about keeping it all,” he said.
“Chester, the baby isn’t mine alone. She’s yours as well. We should split the money.”
“I don’t want it. It’s all yours.”
He could easily get millions from Alexander if he wanted to, but he didn’t really care about such small sums and saw no need to ask Alexander for it.
Ever since his company went bankrupt, he had been living fairly well.

“Since you really don’t want the money, then I won’t insist. I’ll keep it safe for our Cutie.”
“Alright.”
After stroking her hair, Chester put all the bank cards back into the envelopes and tucked them. under her pillow.
It was as if having all this money made Angelina sleepy, so she closed her eyes and quickly drifted off to sleep.
The doctor came to press her stomach to help with the discharge. Angelina was sleeping

soundly when a pair of hands suddenly pressed down on her belly. The pain instantly brought tears to her eyes. “Ugh… It hurts…”
Chester grasped her hand. “It’s okay. Don’t be scared…”
Angelina began to sob, which broke Chester’s heart. He comforted her for a while–kissing her and stroking her hair–before finally lulling her back to sleep.
The newborn baby was fussy and soon began to cry softly, her tiny eyes darting around. At first, only one eye was open, but now, both eyes had relaxed and opened fully.
Chester fed and cared for Catherine while Angelina slept. She grew thinner as she rested.
Finally, by the evening, Angelina was allowed to eat.
Gerald came to pick Emily up so that she could go back and prepare dinner. Now that Emily was away, Chester rushed to buy some chowder from a nearby restaurant.
“Hurry up and eat. If you don’t, my mom’s going to send food over.”
“Her cooking has improved a lot. Don’t say that. It’s not nice.”
“Then save some room for the food my mom brings over.”
“I can’t. I’m starving.”
Angelina finished half a bowl of chowder before finally feeling too full to continue.
“I’m done.”
Chester took the bowl. “You don’t want more?”
“I can’t eat anymore.”
When she was still pregnant and had a large belly regardless of whether she was full or hungry, she could still eat more no matter what. But now that her stomach had flattened, difference between hunger and fullness was clear to her.
the
She was zoning out when she saw Chester drink the remaining half of her chowder.
“Chester…”
“Yeah?”
He hadn’t slept all night or during the day, so he looked particularly haggard.
“I just drank from that bowl.”
“So what? Is it poisoned?”
“No…”
Was he not a germophobe? What a liar!
