Chapter 33
These were clearly young people. Some of them didn’t even look old enough to drink
Were teenagers these days really that bold?
They had the nerve to attack a university professor in the middle of the street in broad daylight.
“Not a single person who was involved will get away with this. They’ll all pay the price.” Owen’s cold voice cut through the tension, and his usually calm expression was now clouded with bury.
Timothy didn’t dare to make a sound, his fear palpable. He quickly responded, “Yes, Mr. Jenson!“)
Before he even finished his words, Owen had already gotten Aurora into the car.
Timothy immediately made a call to seal off any Information, and the local police arrived shortly after. They accessed the surveillance footage and assured that no one who took part would escape. They would pay a heavy price for this.
Inside the car, the warmth barely helped Aurora, who still couldn’t open her eyes due to the pain. Her clothes were soaked through, and the stench of rotten food and dirt filled the air.
Owen wasn’t any better, covered in filth and reeling from the mess.
“Get her to the hospital, now!” he barked, giving orders as he quickly removed her jacket. “Take this off. You’re soaked. You’ll catch a cold.”
Aurora held onto her briefcase tightly with both hands, trying to blink her swollen eyes open. She checked the case, relieved to find it wasn’t damaged. She exhaled softly and let him pull off her jacket.
Owensoon
Owen soon noticed the severe cuts on her hands. Blood was dripping from them, staining her pants as it soaked through the fabric.
He glanced at her, only to see that she was so focused on protecting the briefcase that it seemed like she didn’t even realize the extent of her injuries. Her face, now covered in grime, showed no sign of distress, though her swollen eyes appeared slightly red and puffy. In fact, it seemed that she was relieved it wasn’t worse
Owen grabbed a blanket from the car and draped it over her. Then, he used a towel to apply pressure to her wounds
“Are you crazy?” he asked, his voice tight with anger. “You’re this badly hurt, and you’re still holding onto that thing? Are you willing to die for it?”
He knew her skills. She c
could’ve easily gotten away from them if she wanted to fight back
Aurora’s expression remained the same. She took the towel from him, wiped her face, and then carefully wiped the briefcase. “This is the result of two years of hard work from me and my team, both here and abroad. It’s important. Even if it gets destroyed, it can’t be exposed.”
She continued cleaning it carefully until it was spotless.
Owen stared at her in silence for a moment. Finally, he said in a low voice, “That’s important, yes, but not as important as your life. You can rebuild all this with your skills, but if you die, that’s a real loss.”
Aurora replied quietly, her voice steady, “Some things are more important than life. Personal loss is small; the loss to my team, or to the public, is far greater.”
Owen was at a loss for words. How could he convince her?
This woman was stubborn, with a hard edge that made her hard to argue with. With this kind of mentality, she’d end up getting hurt.
At that moment, Owen felt a strange undercurrent of emotions rise in his chest–something he couldn’t quite put into words.
He had never met a woman like her. The women he knew were always polished, self–centered, and focused on making themselves look good. They were Independent and powerful, otren with the mindset of building their own success.
But Aurora’s spirit was something different. There was something in her that stirred something deep inside him.
