The short man, who had been unconscious, jolted awake with a howl of pain.
Natalie glanced at him, feeling a sense of relief, then turned her grateful gaze back to Jasper. When their eyes mer, the coldness in his gaze softened, replaced by an emotion she couldn’t quite identity.
He irritably tugged at the collar of his uniform while glancing at the captivating figure across from him. In a commanding tone, he said, “You shouldn’t go out alone with that pretty face of yours. You won’t always be lucky.”
She agreed wholeheartedly. As she straightened her disheveled clothes and hair, he nodded obediently “You’re right. I’ll be more careful in the future.”
Her soft voice, combined with her submissive expression, seemed to bug at Jasper’s heart. He gleaned at her and was about to say something more when Zachary said, “Captain Locke, I’ve caught the other one. What should we do with them?”
Zachary grabbed the tall man by the collar and tossed him to the ground. With his hands and foot bound behind h the tall min struggled like a worm on the ground

Many revenge scenarios flashed through her mind, each more brutal than the last. But thinking of Jasper’s position and fearing it might complicate things for him, she opted for a safer choice. “Let’s take them to the police station”
He nodded in agerment.
Zachary kicked the man on the ground “Get up already!”
The short man complied without protest, while the tall man, at defiant, add, “You two should be careful! This woman is the one who seduced us and said she wanted to have fun. She’s out here selling herself!”
Natalie glared at him with red–rimmed eyes, outraged that he was trying to pin the blame on her. Did he really think she was a pushover?
Scanning the ground, she spotted the dagger that had been knocked away earlier, picked it up, and approached the tall man step by step:
