he grabbed my arm, refusing to let go.
“I’ve already taken care of things with Hannah. Come back with me. Let’s get back together.

“I can’t stand being without you.”
He kept trying to prove his sincerity, but I didn’t want to hear a single word.
“Callum, can’t you understand? I don’t want to see you again. I don’t care what happens to you.”
“Then who do you care about?”
He let out a low laugh as he pointed at Ken.
“Do you care about him?
“Why would a world–renowned young artist fall for a divorced woman? It’s just that he wants what he can’t have, isn’t it?
“All men are the same, Eloise. If you choose him aren’t you afraid of another five years like what I gave you?”
www
“I won’t do that to her,” Ken said as he suddenly grabbed my hand. He intertwined our fingers and looked at me with sincerity and devotion.
“I like Eloise both for who she is. The moment I first saw her in college, I knew she was the
one.
“I thought that if you could make her happy, I’ll quietly protect her–never approaching, never disturbing the peace.
“But you
didn’t.
“That’s why I’m here. Eloise is just as important as painting is in my life. Thank you for giving me the chance to make my dream come true.”
Ken’s words pierced through Callum’s arrogance like an arrow.
The hard emotions on Callum’s tatered, and all that remained in his gaze was sadness.
But I didn’t even glance at him. I turned and left with Ken.
Once we rounded the corner, I let go of Ken’s hand. “Thank you, Ken.”
!
I thought his gesture was just a gentlemanly act to help me.
But he sighed and rubbed his forehead.
“Eloise, haven’t I made it obvious enough? I really like you. Everything I said just now is the truth.”
“Huh?” I was surprised. “The person you’ve always kept in your heart is me?”
“Who else?”
He affectionately ruffled my hair. “I had planned to confess at the art exhibition, but since the

atmosphere is right, I’ll just say it now.
“I like you a lot, Eloise. I hope to marry you someday.”
It was such a serious yet old–fashioned confession.
I couldn’t help but smile. “Well then, let’s see how you do at your opening.”
I attended Ken’s art exhibition. It was held just for me.
It was themed “My Love” and all the paintings were about me.
The 307 paintings represented the time we had known each other, each one displaying his feelings.
It was also that day that I heard the news about Callum and Hannah from Emmet.
The Kiplings had given Hannah five million dollars to send her away, but she had agreed on the surface and then secretly climbed into Callum’s bed at night.
She had hoped to force Callum into marrying her by making things irreversible.
But thankfully, they all refused.
In her anger, Hannah drove into Callum, and now both of them were in critical condition in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
“Tell me, Emmet, do you think Callum will ever wake up?”
“No, Eloise.”
I glanced at the man in the distance, painting my image on the canvas, and smiled as I spoke.
“From now on, I don’t need to hear any more news about him. I’ve found my happiness again.”
