Chapter 38
The bus had left.
Jasper held the two movie tickets and looked at Natalle. “Want to catch a movie?”
She didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she asked, “What time does the movie start?”
He glanced at the tickets. “It starts at 2:30 pm. We have half an hour until the show starts,
, so we’ll arrive just in time
The movie lasted about two hours, and the cinema was near Art Corps. After the film, she could swing by to check it out, which fit her schedule perfectly. Natalie nodded. “Let’s go then.”
Watching a movie with him would be an excellent way to repay him for giving her the clothes earlier.
ep across the street,
Thinking they would walk there, she was surprised when Jasper led her to a military–green Jeep
“Get in.” He opened the passenger door for her.
Once she fastened her seatbelt, he closed the door and entered the driver’s seat.
The ride was smooth and steady, starkly contrasting to the bumpy, dust–filled journey they had taken earlier.
As Natalie absentmindedly played with her seatbelt, she stole glances at Jasper from time to time.
Having interacted with him a few times now, she had to admit he was pretty charming.
He looked captivating driving the car, clad in military attire, broad–shouldered and upright. His hands rested confidently on the steering wheel, and he gazed ahead with a serious expression, his lips slightly pressed together. His chiseled profile exuded both charm and an air of defiance.
His physique was Imposing Standing, he had a slim waist and long legs, with a model–like proportion, yet he possessed a strength that set him apart from any runway model. It was easy to imagine the remarkable physique hidden beneath his uniform.
No wonder the original subject had been utterly infatuated with him.
“What are you thinking about?” Jasper asked, his deep voice breaking through her thoughts as he sensed her intense gaze
Natalie snapped back to reality, surprised she had been lost in thought while staring at him.
She instinctively tightened her grip on the seatbelt, her voice soft as she replied, “N–nothing.”
He grunted in response and asked, “Are you looking for a job?”
She nodded. “Yes.”
“What kind of job are you looking for?”
Knowing that having any job in the 1970s was considered a big deal and that most people didn’t have the luxury of being picky, she answered honestly,” I heard Art Corps is hiring, so I want to try it ”
The mention of Art Corps made Jasper furrow his brow slightly as he glanced at her. “Art Corps often performs across various military regions. nationwide, many of which are located in remote mountainous areas with harsh climates and geography.”
Natalie clarified, “I don’t want to be a performer. I want to apply for an administrative position.”
He responded, “Administrative positions require at least a junior high school diploma.”
She asked, “Are all positions like that?”
He replied, “For administrative positions, yes.”
She frowned, recalling that the original subject only had an elementary school diploma. Feeling disheartened, her face clouded with worry. Where else could she work if she couldn’t apply to Art Corps?
Would she have to work in a factory as a female laborer?
Alas… She resigned herself to the idea that a chance with Art Corps was out of reach.
