Chapter 43
Upon seeing Jasper in his military uniform adorned with medals, the neighborhood patrol woman’s attitude softened significantly. “Alright, if both of you comrades are willing to testify, we’ll consider that. However…”
She turned to the two involved and said, “You both still need to come with us to the neighborhood patrol office to sort this out.”
With a glance at the man, she moved to grab Haven by the arm.
Haven’s expression was filled with fear as she wondered how they would be treated.
“Hold on,” Jasper said coldly. “If this was indeed misconduct, you should be going to the police station, not the neighborhood patrol office. I remember the minimum sentence for misconduct is five years. For harassing a female soldier, it starts at 20 years. Since I have some free time now, I’ll accompany you
What? 20 years?
The man immediately protested, “Sir, you’re slandering me! I didn’t do anything wrong!”
The two plump women from the neighborhood patrol also became anxious. “If it’s just a misunderstanding, we can clear it up without going to the police
station.”
Jasper narrowed his eyes slightly, a cold smirk forming at the corners of his lips. “A misunderstanding? Were you not the ones who claimed you saw it with your own eyes? I wonder if the police will believe you or trust a soldier sitting right behind them.”
The pressure from Jasper, honed by years of experience on the battlefield, was intimidating. The two women felt a chill run down their spines, and their lips trembled.
“S–sir, this really is a misunderstanding. We must have seen it wrong,” the heavier–set woman said, her voice shaking.
The thinner woman quickly turned to Haven and apologized, “I’m sorry, miss. We made a mistake in our judgment and shouldn’t have come to arrest you. I apologize!”
Haven couldn’t believe how quickly the situation had turned. Just moments ago, they had accused her of moral corruption, and now they were apologizing
1 sorry, Haven! I was just
Seeing the neighborhood patrol women back down, the man also deflated. He quickly turned to Haven and pleaded, “I’m s confused. Please forgive me!”
Haven scoffed. “Confused? What exactly did you do wrong?
The man replied, “I shouldn’t have touched your cheek. I shouldn’t have kissed you. Since your aunt works with my mother, could you please ask that soldier not to take me to the police station?”
She ultimately considered her aunt’s relationship with the man’s mother. Although angry, she didn’t want to cause trouble for her aunt. She shot the man a furious glare and said, “Get lost!”
Without another word, the man quickly left.
The neighborhood patrol women hurried away as well.
ng willing to testify on my behalf!”
As the crowd dispersed, Haven turned gratefully to Natalie and Jasper. “Thank you both so much! Thank you for being Jasper nodded slightly, remaining silent.
Natalie smiled at Haven. “Don’t mention it. We’re both women, and it’s only right to help each other. But next time you go on a blind date, be more careful about your chosen place. Dark places like this can easily lead to trouble”
She had noticed the exchanged glances between the man and the neighborhood patrol women earlier and realized it was a setup. They intended not to get Haven discharged but to pressure her into marrying the man.
