These were all minor details, but they could easily become the straw that broke the camel’s back when lumped together.
Shawn belatedly realized that he and Noelle had grown so far apart. He was filled with regret and wanted nothing more than to make things up to her.
To his dismay, the bank employee said, “Everything is fine on your end, Mr. Pitt. It’s just that the account you tried to transfer the money to no longer exists.”
“What? Why?”
“The account was canceled yesterday.”
“Yesterday?”
The bank employee answered in the affirmative. Shawn hung up before burying his face in his hands lethargically. He let out a sob.

Chapter 10
If he’d bothered calling her even once in the past few days, he probably would’ve noticed something was wrong with Noelle. Yet, he hadn‘ It was too late for that.
An hour passed, but Shawn wasn’t in the mood to work. He frantically went through the social media apps that Noelle once used, hoping to find some clues. Perhaps she would’ve voiced her troubles online, where no one knew h
He rarely used social media, but he remembered Noelle’s username. No matter which platform she used, her name would be NoelleBreeze.
The first thing he did was check WhatsApp. However, all he found was that the last messages they’d sent each other were days in the past. Noelle’s account had been deleted, too. Her profile picture was replaced with a gray icon.
It felt like a punch to the gut. He went to other social media apps to search for anything to do with “NoelleBreeze“, but all the results either told him that the user didn’t exist or that the username belonged to someone who evidently wasn’t her.
He didn’t know how long he spent doing this. Ultimately, the only traces he managed to find of her were other people forwarding or sharing her messages.
“NoelleBreeze” had all but disappeared from the Internet.
Shawn didn’t want to give up just like that. He called customer service and provided Noelle’s personal information. “I’ve checked your terms and conditions, and I sa hat users who have deleted their accounts have seven days to
withdraw their request. I want… restore her data.”
The customer service agent didn’t agree to do it. “The withdrawal has to be performed by the user in question, sir.”
Shawn snapped, “I’m her husband! Can’t I do it for her?”
“I’m sorry, sir.”
“Fine, then. I’ll lodge a complaint. Expect a summons from the court! Don’t think I don’t know how easy it is for you guys to restore data like this!‘
“You may go ahead with that, sir,” the customer service agent said calmly. He’d encountered too many unreasonable customers like Shawn and didn’t take his threat to heart. Shawn would ultimately have to abide by the law.
Shawn was frustrated when he realized that his methods weren’t working. He hung up before pulling strings to reach the person in charge of the platform. He adopted a softer approach and pleaded with the person for help.
“I know you have your policies, but my wife has run away from home without taking anything. She’s deleted all her social media accounts and canceled her bank cards. I’ll be out of clues if you can’t help me restore the data. Please, I’m begging you for help,” he said.
