But I already knew. This was them

Sebastian. Jack. Same game, new strategy. Fake diagnoses, gaslighting, control

If they got me into that hospital? I wouldn’t be walking out

So I screamed. Loud. Desperate

It worked. A door slammed. Footsteps

Stella and Zayne came flying down the stairs

Zayne was all business, flashing his lawyer’s ID as he stormed toward the men

This looks like an illegal detainment,” he said. Frankly? It looks like kidnapping

The police are already on their way. Nobody’s leaving.”

By then, a crowd had gathered. People whispered, wideeyed, and a few pulled out their phones to start recording

The guys in white coats shifted nervously, loosening their grip on me

We’re just doing our job!one of them stammered, backing toward the ambulance

Yeah, right

But the crowd wasn’t having it. A wall of people formed, blocking their way. No one was letting them slip off that easily

Moments later, the cops rolled up. We were all taken to the station for questioning

The two men? Real doctors. But the diagnosis? Fake. One of them had taken a bribe to make it happen

The whole thing spiraled into a near malpractice case

We immediately filed charges against Sebastian and Jack right then and therefor attempted murder

Later, after I gave my statement, a weird calm washed over me

For the first time in decades, I felt free. Like I could finally breathe

Even the sky seemed brighter. Clearer

Sebastian and Jack? Their time was up. Arrests were coming, and justice finally felt real

But I underestimated just how far they’d go to see me dead

The moment we stepped out of the station, I saw himSebastianstorming toward

  1. me

His face twisted with rage, his stride quick, deliberate. Predatory

Instinctively, I stepped back

That’s when I saw it

The knife

A flash of silver in his hand, and he charged

Fast. Too fast

I barely had time to react before-

WHAM

A young officer came out of nowhere, tackling Sebastian to the ground

The knife clattered to the pavement, bouncing once before the officer grabbed it and slipped it into an evidence bag

Sebastian thrashed, screaming my name with pure venom. Helena Jent! You won’t die a peaceful death

You reported your own son to the police! Are you even human?!

You monster!”

I stood there, stunned

Honestly? I never knew he had that many vulgar words in his vocabulary

Even the officers nearby couldn’t hide their reactionsone actually rolled his eyes

at Sebastian’s twisted accusations and shameless theatrics

The knife was in police custody. We had recordings, photos, official reports

The case against him? Airtight

This time, there was no wiggle room

No excuses

Sebastian would be charged with everything. Attempted murder, conspiracy, falsifying medical reportsyou name it. Each charge carried a hefty sentence. The police worked fast. Within days, he was found guilty on multiple counts

Done. Over. Finished

But there was one thing that gnawed at me

Jack

He was just as guilty, just as complicitbut he hadn’t directly laid a hand on me. His crime? Silence. Letting it all happen

The police could only hold him for a few days before they had to release him
