Chapter 65
Jasper’s voice was cold, barely suppressing his anger. The natural authority in his tone was enough to send chills down Yvette’s and Phoebe’s spines. “Yes, I’ve finished talking.” Yvette’s body trembled as she instinctively nodded.
Phoebe couldn’t even muster a word.
Their legs felt weak as they hurried out the door.
As Phoebe passed by Jasper, he stopped her, reaching into his pocket and handing a small stack of ration coupons to her. “Here, spend it as you need,” he said concisely.
Phoebe held the money with trembling hands and said, “Thank you, Jasper. Is this for me and Natalie?”
But by the time she looked up at Jasper, only to find he was already striding up the stairs, heading to the upper floor.
Jasper moved down the dormitory corridor with a cold expression.
His room was near the end of the corridor, and as he walked past one of the partially open doors, he overheard a conversation.
“Come one, what’s so special about Captain Locke’s sister that has you all smitten like this?”
“Ha! You wouldn’t be saying that if you’d seen her yourself! You’d be just as smitten.”
“I don’t believe it. Is she even prettier than Jenny Barnes from Art Corps?”
“Much prettier! Let me put it this way. Her eyes are bright and sparkling, like they’re glowing when she looks at you. Her lips are red and delicate, and when she smiles, she’s got these two dimples that are so sweet, they’ll make you melt.
“Her skin is as fair and smooth as the cream we had yesterday. And her figure? Incredible. Curves in all the right places, and that waist of hers is so slim, I’d bet it’s even narrower than my palm…”
The speaker held out his hand, gesturing in the air as others looked on in awe.
“Seriously? That small? You could probably hold her waist with one hand!”
“Exactly! And it looked so delicate. Honestly, when our eyes met, it felt like an angel had just stepped down from heaven. You should’ve seen Bennett’s face. He was totally mesmerized, he couldn’t even speak. He just blushed!”
Bennett glared at his companion indignantly. “Look who’s talking. You were just as smitten.”
The others listening to the description could barely contain their envy. “Is she really that beautiful? Now you’ve got me wanting to meet her too!”
“Maybe next time. She said she would come to the base again to visit Captain Locke.”
Jasper listened to the entire conversation outside the door. His brows were tightly knit, and his expression had darkened.
He knew that that woman was a trouble. Just a brief visit at the gate, and she had already managed to distract his squadron’s pilots. Her tactics were truly impressive.
Jasper turned and headed downstairs, making his way to the communication office. He called the gate duty officer, and the line quickly connected. Jasper’s voice was firm. “From now on, anyone claiming to be my sister is not allowed into the base–especially someone named Natalie Wynn.”
