Despite everything, Claire still wanted to give it one last shot.
Clutching her phone tightly, she dialed Ayrton’s mom, Diana, making up lies and crying for help, “Diana, Ayrton… Ayrton has taken advantage of me…
She hesitated in her words, but left enough room for interpretation.
Hearing Claire’s slightly hoarse and pitiful voice, Diana’s anger flared immediately.
“Claire, hang in there, I’m coming right now. This boy… after taking advantage of you, he still doesn’t want to make things right. I refuse to have such a thoughtless son!”
Diana hung up quickly and rushed over as fast as she could
Ayrton glared at Claire, his face twisted with an unusual fury.
“Who do you think you are? How dare you slander me!”
He couldn’t maintain his composure any longer, gripping Claire’s chin so hard it left bruises…
But Claire held onto her phone like it was a lifeline, refusing to let go.
Walter patted Ayrton soothingly on the shoulder and said, “Don’t worry about her. She’s just making a scene. Diana knows you well enough not to believe this nonsense.”
Hearing this, Ayrton calmed down a bit and slowly released his grip.
As soon as Diana stepped through the door, before she could utter a word of reprimand, Ayrton handed her some documents.”
Diana read them thoroughly, her expression darkening like a storm cloud. She marched over to Claire, abandoning her usual poise, and yanked at Claire’s hair, delivering a sharp slap across her face.!!
In an instant, Claire’s cheek swelled up glaringly.
“Diana, why… why are you doing this to me? Ayrton just doesn’t want to admit what he did…”
“Enough!” Diana cut Claire’s ambiguous words short. She chuckled coldly, her demeanor mirroring Ayrton’s indifference.
“Claire, I know my son better than anyone. And besides, I’m experienced enough to see right through this charade. For what you’ve done, Lucille might have let you off, but the Lewis family and the Quinn family certainly won’t!“!
After all, Lucille was cherished by the Simpson family, the Lewis family, and the Quinn family alike.
That Thanksgiving, when Ayrton and Walter brought Claire home unexpectedly, the Lewis and Quinn families were left in a state of embarrassment}
It wasn’t because their sons had dated a girl from a modest background, but because they had always promised Lucille as a future daughter–in–law.
Ayrton and Walter’s parents had already considered Lucille part of the family, hoping their sons would step up and make it official someday.
Then Claire showed up out of nowhere, catching everyone off guard.
Even though the elders felt Claire wasn’t exactly ideal–her intentions too murky, her demeanor unrefined–they were willing to accept her for the sake of their sons‘ happiness.
They even showed her the family heirloom, thinking if she was truly going to be with one of their sons, it might one day be hers.!!
Now that the truth was out, Diana wasn’t about to show Claire any kindness. She quickly called Walter’s mom, Ellie.
Ellie arrived soon after hearing everything and was equally furious.
Known for her fiery temperament, Ellie was not one to hold back. Listening to Ayrton and Walter’s plans for dealing with Claire, she thought they were still being too lenient.
