Chapter 14

Lucy thought for a moment and said, “I suggest we focus on reaching out to the few people we’ve identified as needing help. Let’s schedule specific times to help them out and then exchange it for money or food.”

“Great idea!” Parker was instantly excited. “Let’s get everything lined up today so they don’t beat us to it.”

Mel and Demi were also on board. “Sounds good!”

Under Lucy’s lead, the four of them started finding people who needed help, scheduling with them one by one, and managed to set up all the times successfully.

After they finished, everyone looked at Lucy with admiration.

“Lucy, you’re incredible!” Demi’s eyes sparkled as she shifted to a more affectionate tone. “How did you find each place so precisely?”

Since it was their first time in the village and all the houses looked similar, even with the list from the village chief, it wasn’t easy to locate each one.

They had expected to ask around more, but every time they followed Lucy to a house, it was the right one.

It was simply amazing.

Mel and Parker both nodded in agreement. “We’re curious too.”

“Didn’t I draw a map?” Lucy raised an eyebrow with a smile. “And I also asked about the features of each house.”

“For example, doesn’t Tom’s place have two osmanthus trees in front?”

“And doesn’t Jack’s yard have a waist-high gate and a pile of firewood in the corner?”

“Once you know that, it’s easy.”

Hearing this, all three guests gave Lucy a thumbs-up.

“Lucy, you’re awesome!”

No wonder she was so meticulous when asking the village chief; it was all for this.

“Wow, they say luck favors the prepared, and it really does,” Parker said with a smile, looking at Lucy. “Do you always put so much effort into everything?”

“Basically,” Lucy smiled. “My motto is: If you’re going to do something, do it well.”

Since she was young, her mentor had taught her to approach every task with care and leave no regrets.

She shifted the topic. “We have work lined up for the rest of the time. Do you want to continue exploring the village or head back to rest?”

Her question caught Mel and Demi off guard.

They had thought Lucy would take the opportunity to show off, but she didn’t do that at all.

They found her even more genuine and real.

“How about we head back and rest?” Demi bent over and rubbed her legs. “My old bones are feeling worn out.”

Dancing usually felt tough enough.

“We’ve been on the road all day, and we’ve walked a lot in the village,” Lucy said sympathetically. “Shall we head back to rest?”

“Sure, let’s go back and rest. There’s nothing else to do anyway.” Both male guests agreed.

The four of them returned to their courtyard and went to their rooms.

Demi quickly pulled out a simple pad from her suitcase, lay down, and fell asleep with her eyes closed.

Lucy didn’t go to bed; she sat cross-legged on the bed, closing her eyes to rest.

Seeing this, the cameraman took his camera and went outside.

While they were resting, the live chat was buzzing with praise.

[Lucy is amazing, leading the way!]

[She’s so meticulous and thorough, all thanks to her map.]

[Not bragging, I’m totally converted! She’s a clear contrast to the other so-called “fairy”!]

[Let me check the other live stream to see their progress.]

The two teams were operating separately, so the show had two live streams for comparison.

[The live stream from the Song siblings is really frustrating. I watched both streams, and it’s just ridiculous.]

[I saw it too. They knocked on dozens of doors and had to persist just to find one house that felt a bit uncomfortable rejecting them.]

[That was an elderly lady with two grandkids, and she wasn’t in great shape. The so-called “fairy” was clearly disdainful and tried hard to hide it!]

[Song Rou managed to get a cabbage and a few eggs by helping with cooking, and Leo and Cohen praised her to the skies, constantly hyping her up!]

[She used half of the oil from the lady’s oil can while cooking, and the old lady was practically heartbroken!]

[And she cooked all the carefully saved cured meat. It was like a disaster!]

[The two kids helped while she cooked, and the so-called “fairy” just tossed things around and had the nerve to take credit!]

[She’s the complete opposite of Lucy!]

The truth revealed in the live chat shocked everyone.

[Her fans call her a “fairy,” but this is outrageous! What happened to being kind and understanding?]

[You don’t know the half of it. They even tried to take care of a kid to exchange for vegetables!]

[The little kid, though shabby, was well-behaved. When he asked for a hug, she just avoided him!]

[A sweet kid ended up crying after being with them for a while! The “fairy” pretended to be a good sister but couldn’t stop herself from laughing. So hypocritical!]

[So, what happened next? Did they calm the kid down?]

[Nope, the kid’s grandma came back from the fields, and angrily kicked them out.]

[Afterward, the “fairy” kept blaming herself, and Mr. Bailey and Ashley comforted her endlessly, praising her like she could do no wrong… The live chat was full of praise for the “fairy,” saying it was all others’ fault, never hers.]

[Not only that, but Leo also criticized the family for being ungrateful and lacking manners!]

[What? They actually said that? The family should be grateful for making their kid cry?]

[What kind of logic is that? Leo is terrifyingly overprotective!]

[I’m not calling myself Leo’s wife anymore. Whoever ends up with him is probably in for a rough time.]

The contrast between Lucy and Gracie in the two live streams really opened viewers’ eyes.

With Parker’s sharp-tongued fans leading the way, the criticism surrounded Gracie and the two men who were with her.

The guests were unaware of the frenzy in the live chat.

After a break, Parker and the others saw Lucy sitting in the courtyard, weaving something with reed stalks.

“Lucy, what are you making?” Demi asked curiously.

Parker and Mel also gathered around and sat beside her.

“It looks like some kind of basket?” Mel guessed.

Lucy continued weaving, looking up and smiling at the three. “I asked the show’s team, and they said we could use these reed stalks, so I’m making some storage baskets for our stuff and clothes.”

The show didn’t provide cabinets or anything, which made it inconvenient to stay for a week.

“Lucy, you’re amazing! Your hands are so skillful! You can do anything!” Demi’s eyes were full of admiration. “Can I learn from you? I want to try too!”

“Me too!” Parker and Mel chimed in.

“Sure, just wait a moment. Once I finish this one, I’ll show you how to start,” Lucy replied.
