Chapter 21
Mr. Dickens hadn’t gone to the scene; instead, he was watching the live broadcast from the production teams building
The moment he saw Lucy predicting danger for the kids, he knew something was bound to happen.
He was aware that Lucy not only had the ability to read faces but was also well–versed in mysticism, with an incomprehensibly high level of expertise
His wife had once survived a dangerous situation thanks to a talisman Lucy had given her
So, when Lucy ran out of the orchard, he immediately pulled out his phone and contacted the medical team, instructing them to prepare for a rescue
operation.
ng into the water one
ater one after the other, and then the reservoir gate suddenly opened.
But just after hanging up, he saw Lucy and Parker diving
His expression changed drastically
How could the precious young master of the Carter family have jumped in too?!
If anything happened to him, the entire production team would be ruined!
On the other side.
Lucy and Parker swam over in time and grabbed the children just before they were swept away
Each of them held onto a child and quickly swam toward the shore
The people on the bank were so tense they barely dared to breathe, while the director’s team quickly broke off a long tree branch to assist in their rescue.
Wave after wave crashed against them, as if the water wouldn’t stop until it devoured them all, making everyone tremble with fear.
Lucy, holding onto the child, skillfully swam to the shore.
She quickly pushed the child onto the bank, where a villager immediately grabbed him.
After the child was safely ashore, she grabbed the tree branch handed over by the crew and prepared to pull herself up
Suddenly, a shout erupted from the crowd: “Parker! Watch out!
Lucy immediately turned her head and saw that just as Parker pushed the child onto the shore, he was knocked over by the rushing current and swept away by a large wave.
Seeing this, Lucy let go of the branch without hesitation and swam toward him.
Everyone was shocked to see her rushing into danger again.
Ashley and the others, who had been picking fruit for a family, rushed over when they heard the news. Seeing that the two had rescued the child and were about to get ashore, they breathed a sigh of relief.
However, they then saw Lucy abandon her chance to reach the shore in order to save Parker, plunging back into the dangerous waters
Both Ashley and Cohen’s expressions changed, and they quickly rushed to the riverbank.
“Lucy Lucy!
Behind them, Gracie watched their anxious reactions, her eyes turning cold.
As she looked at Parker being swept away by the current and disappearing underwater, and Lucy following him and losing her own footing, Gracie’s expression darkened
She silently cursed Lucy for being a fool, risking her life for others, at the same time, she was glad Lucy was in danger, hoping she would drown.
If Lucy were gone, no one would threaten her position anymore.
Lucy’s death would be the best outcome!
In the water.
Visibility was poor, and it was difficult to see clearly.
Parker had been dragged underwater, but Lucy quickly located him and grabbed hold of his arm.
She tried to swim back, but the powerful current nearly tore her and Parker apart.
However, Lucy remained calm, moving closer to Parker and wrapping her arm around his waist.
Using the momentum of the water, she mustered all her strength and began swimming toward the shore.
At that moment, although Parker couldn’t open his eyes, he was still conscious.
He had thought he was done for this time–swept away by the waves, his legs cramping, unable to save himself, and choking on several mouthfuls of
water.
Tossed about in the water, he could barely breathe.
Just as he was starting to think he should give up, a slender but strong arm grabbed him.
He could clearly feel someone was saving him
Though his eyes were tightly shut, his mind was still aware.
This realization reignited his will to survive–he couldn’t die, and he didn’t want to.
Slowly, he began to exert strength, cooperating with the woman’s movements.
Neither the people on the shore nor the viewers watching the live stream knew what was happening with them
Everyone was watching anxiously, not daring to blink, hoping desperately that the two would make it out alive.
Fans of both Lucy and Parker were praying nonstop in the live stream, while onlookers were also hoping for their safe escape.
But hope seemed slim–the current was fierce, and the drop from the reservoir was dozens of meters. If they were swept down, survival seemed unlikely
Just when everyone was on edge, the two suddenly surfaced.
Lucy was seen holding onto Parker, struggling to swim toward the shore.
Though progress was slow, it was steady, one determined stroke at a time.
Some in the crowd were moved to tears, overwhelmed with emotion
They weren’t dead! They were still alive, still fighting to survive, not swept away but pressing on!
Even as the waves continued to rage, Lucy didn’t give up, dragging Parker closer to shore.
Several heart-stopping moments were resolved one by one, and the crowd was on the verge of tears.
Finally, they neared the shore.
People on the bank rushed to help and quickly pulled the two up.
were rescued!
They w
Both were safel
Everyone wanted to cry tears of joy, except for some fans of the Green siblings and Cohen, who felt disappointed and harbored malicious thoughts.
Onshore, both of them collapsed onto the ground. Parker was half–unconscious, while Lucy lay exhausted, gasping for breath.
Fortunately, her regular training and good stamina had helped her endure for so long.
Otherwise, both of them would have been in grave danger
The emergency team had been standing by and immediately began administering first aid to Parker.
Soon, Parker coughed up several mouthfuls of water and slowly opened his s eyes.
The first thing he saw was Lucy, drenched from head to toe but still looking graceful.
A warmth appeared in his eyes as he gazed at her.
Sure enough, the one who saved him was her
Parker, pale–faced, rasped out to Lucy with a smile in his eyes, “Thank you”
Lucy gave a faint smile, “No need to thank me. It was just within my ability.”
She had always had a good impression of Parker.
After all, his personality was straightforward and genuine. He was one of the rare few who weren’t charmed by Gracie and even gave her sharp comebacks
This
time, she had gone into the water to save him when it seemed like there was no danger, as the sluice gates hadn’t been opened.
Most people wouldn’t understand, but he followed her without hesitation
This showed that he trusted her.
At the same time, it also showed he was kind, willing to risk himself to save the weak.
The two exchanged a glance, both with smiles in their eyes.
This scene stung the eyes of Ashley and Cohen, who were standing nearby.
They both wanted to go up and scold her for being foolish, risking her life for a stranger
or and nearly getting herself into trouble
But considering the live broadcast, they held back, as certain things would ruin their public image if said.
Cohen hesitated for a while but couldn’t help stepping forward, concerned, “Lucy, are you alright?”
