Chapter 8
After leaving the restaurant, William headed straight to the police station.
“I need to file a report! My wife… no, my ex–wife… she’s missing…”

The police immediately took on the case.
William spent two hours giving his statement at the station.
It was strange that all the details about me, whether he’d deliberately ignored them or forgotten them before now, came flooding back to him.
He suddenly remembered everything.
He told the police every detail, afraid to miss even the most minor thing.
I listened to him talk about everything between us, all our history together.
My heart didn’t stir even a bit.
After leaving the police station, William immediately rushed back to his company.
He pulled every string he had, used all his resources, and even hired private investigators.

A day later, he learned something from my parents. I had a twin sister named Hannah!
Meanwhile, the police called with an update.
The detective stated, “After our investigation, we can almost confirm that your ex–wife has gone missing.”
Since Hannah had been living with William while pretending to be me,
He believed my disappearance must be closely connected to Hannah.
He figured finding her might lead him to my whereabouts.
So his original plan to “investigate Hannah” turned into “tracking down Hannah’s location“.
For two weeks, he barely touched his food.
Anyone could see how much weight he’d lost, his face growing haggard.
Under the crushing weight of confusion, anxiety, waiting, and all his other emotions,
He was already stretched thin like a violin string when, one day, arriving home, he spotted Eleanor in his red Porsche by the villa entrance, intimately embracing another man.
That was the last straw.

The man said, “Eleanor, when will you marry William so our kid can legally inherit his fortune?
“You know, it’s a good thing you devised a plan to get William drunk and pretend to sleep with him. Who knows how long it would’ve taken to fool him otherwise?”
Eleanor said, “Yeah, William seems hung up on his past, but whenever I try to get him into bed, he’s so wishy–washy. Getting him drunk was way easier.
“Though he’s been looking for that ex–wife of his these days. Who knows if she’s dead or what happened to her? But no worries, I’ll use the baby to pressure him in a couple of days. I’d like to see him try to refuse to marry me then.”
William overheard the conversation between the man and Eleanor from a distance.
His fingers tightened around the recording phone, squeezing it hard.
At that moment, he finally realized that he was the only one who had ever truly cared about him from the beginning.
Instead of rushing over to expose Eleanor, he stayed put.
He snapped several photos of Eleanor with the man.
Then, he sent both the recording and the images.
Just after sending them, William got a call from his private investigator. “We’ve found Hannah. She’s overseas. I’ll text you the address shortly.”
After I died, my husband treated my twin sis… 1/3
