Chapter 10
The interior looked incredibly worn, and the walls and the doors were filled with scratches. The bedsheets also looked messy and dirty. Not to mention, the entire room was filled with take- out boxes and various types of trash.
Since I was generally preoccupied with work, I asked Jacob to take care of our new home. But I didn’t think he’d do something like this.
I wanted to call the police, but I suppressed the urge to do so. Instead, I bought a couple of audio recorders and spy cameras and set them up in the house. Then, I left the place as if nothing happened.
Based on how well I knew Jacob, I was certain he was plotting something else. Otherwise, there was no reason he’d continue to stay in this relationship after he’d cheated on me.
After I set everything up, I managed to get in contact with the pool hall’s owner. When I asked him for the surveillance footage from the time of the incident, he could only shrug in resignation.
He hadn’t been at the pool hall when the incident occurred and only found out about it afterward. By the time he’d returned, both Queenie and the redhead, Angie, had resigned.
The surveillance footage in the store had also been wiped clean–everything from the moment the girls appeared to when the police arrived had been erased.
I was fully aware of who was behind this.
I stared at the remaining footage and scanned the crowd. All of a sudden, I spotted the man that initially wanted to lend me a helping hand.
He was holding his phone up the entire time. He must have recorded the entire thing!
So, I went to the pool hall and waited to spot him for the entire afternoon.
When he finally appeared, I offered to buy the video from him for a thousand dollars. Then, I published the video on popular social media platforms and mentioned the user who posted the doctored footage.
After I paid for the video to go viral, I contacted the police officer that handled my case.
Once the man who’d taken the video discovered what had truly happened, he reposted my video and disclosed the details of the incident to the public.
The video he posted was 20 minutes long and was incredibly thorough.
The netizens were dumbfounded by the sudden turn of events.
“The wretched homewrecker was actually the original girlfriend this entire time?”
“The guy deserves an even larger beating!”
“Why is he taking the mistress‘ side when his girlfriend was the one who’d gotten beaten up? I can’t believe this.”
Some of the netizens seemed to despise cheaters and two–faced women more than anything else. Their comments were filled with profanities.
After my video went viral, the man quickly deleted the original video and deactivated their account.
If I had to guess, he was either afraid of the backlash he was receiving, or he was afraid the police would come knocking on his door.
When Jacob found out about the public criticism he was facing, he began bombarding me with calls and messages once again.
So, I blocked him for a while.
