“Why did you do it?” I couldn’t help but ask when I visited Jacob in the detention center.
He furiously scoffed before leaning back against his chair. “This is all your fault. If I hadn’t quit my job, I’d definitely be more successful than you.”
He continued, “Instead, I get called a failure of a man. Everyone mocks me because my girlfriend is the breadwinner of the family! The fact that you’re such a capable woman makes me feel like I’m less of a man!
“In your eyes, I’m nothing but a lapdog, aren’t I?” Jacob was still trying to hold onto what was left of his fragile masculinity. I felt like having dated him was a complete waste of my time. “Don’t kid yourself, Jacob–you’re worse than a lapdog,” I spat. “You’re never on time, and you can’t do anything right. The manager had wanted to fire you ages ago. Even if you hadn’t quit your job, you probably would’ve gotten fired sooner or later.”
I continued, “Stop using me as an excuse. Do I make you feel like you’re less than a man because I don’t listen to your orders? You’re a loser, Jacob. I have nothing else to say to you.” “By the way,” I added. “I’m going to ask your family to pay me back for all the money you spent.”
With that, I grabbed my purse and left the detention center, leaving Jacob in shock.
“We joined the company together. Why are you better than me at everything when my grades were so much better than yours!” he yelled after me. “Even the CEO wanted to promote you. You’re literally an orphan! What gives you the right to inherit so much money?
“You should’ve died! I was so close–you should’ve died!”
I walked away as Jacob continued to shout out insults and nonsensical remarks. Afterward, I gathered the receipts of his spendings and gave everything to the authorities.
Everything totaled up to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Since it was a huge amount of money, the police took the case very seriously. Then, they proceeded to notify the Masons to pay me back
Getting my money back was no easy feat. Jacob’s parents tried to protest against this by causing a scene at my company.
Since they weren’t afraid of the police, I decided to give them a taste of their own medicine. I hired a group of people who specialized in collecting debt and had them camp around the Mason family home.
Soon, they paid off their debt in full.
Then, after blocking everyone from the Mason family, I moved out of my current home. Despite my superiors asking me to stay, I also quit my job and opened up a studio instead.
I left everything behind and started a completely new life.
Ultimately, jacob was charged with attempted murder and sentenced to five years in prison. However, since Queenie wasn’t directly involved in the crime, she was only sentenced to three years of prison.
