Chapter 6
The police arrived at the scene in no time.
“Who was the one who called the police?” the officer asked.
I raised my hand. “These girls physically assaulted me and broke my phone and my cue stick. These items cost around 50 thousand dollars in total.”
“We didn’t mean to do all that, officer. We thought she was a homewrecker,” one of the assistants couldn’t help but voice out.
“Regardless of the circumstances, physically assaulting another person is a crime. Besides, based on what you just told me, I’m assuming she’s not actually a homewrecker. You’ll also have to pay her for destroying her belongings.”
As soon as payment was mentioned, the assistants immediately faltered. They weren’t banding together anymore. Fifty thousand dollars was not a small sum. Even if they were to split it, every person would still need to fork out a considerable amount of money.
One of the assistants gathered the courage to step forward. “Queenie was the one who broke your cue stick and your phone, miss. We had nothing to do with it.”
Upon hearing this, Queenie’s swollen face contorted in anger. “Weren’t we in on this together? Why are you blaming me for everything?”
“Okay then. I’ll ask her to pay for my phone and cue stick, but all of you still took part in beating me up,” I said.
“You can’t do that! Why am I the only person that has to pay for everything? We did everything together as a group!” Queenie protested. She then leaned toward the police officer and said, Besides, she hit me too. Look at my face, officer.”
The officer suspiciously looked at me.
“Yes, I did. I’m more than happy to compensate her for it.”
Since I admitted to my wrongdoings in such a straightforward manner, Queenie could only turn to Jacob for help.
“Please help me, Jacob. I didn’t mean to do any of that. I just care about you so much. I’m really sorry about what happened,” she cried.
The happy couple were practically stuck to each other like glue again.
“Maybe we shouldn’t make such a big fuss over this, Sarah. How is a girl like her supposed to fork out so much money in such a short period of time?” Jacob said.
”
“If she doesn’t have the money, maybe you can pay her debt for her. I doubt you’ll be able to do that though. I’m the one that’s paying for your pool lessons, after all.” I didn’t bother mincing my words.
Jacob immediately broke free from Queenie’s grip and turned away from her.
After that, Queenie, the assistants, and I followed the officer back to the police station for further investigation.
