Chapter 19
An inspection. It was an official visit to ens
visit to ensure no illegal activities were taking place. As the royalty–the ruler of all werewolves–1 had the authority to conduct inspections and ensure that the werewolves were following the laws of the kingdom.
It was an innate power I could use, a powerful tool to instill my authority to my subject.
Yet, I did not exercise such authority and instead delegated it to Salas and the council..
In my past life, I gave this authority to them for them to use it however they wanted. I had the complete trust that they would wholeheartedly conduct inspection for the betterment of the werewolf kingdom.
Thus, they conducted several inspections of the pack territories in my name. In fact, Silas had just returned from a series of inspections on the eastern continent. But instead of helping me inviill my authority, they made sure that my image towards my people were uttered in pieces.
Since I had never conducted an inspection myself, I became so vulnerable. With no direct contact outside the castle, my people knew of me and my reign only through the stories Silas and the council chose to tell them. And they made sure to showcase me as a cruel evil queen who did not care about the kingdom.
So, when I announced my intention to personally inspect the Pack of Ambel, it shocked everyone.
However, despite their surprise and considering how they were taken aback, it was still hard to believe how quickly they were able to gather more than half of my elite warriors.
At the castle entrance, the warriors stood neatly organized. Their expressions were grim, it was as if they we
were preparing for war
Because Rowan had sent me a letter of consent for the inspection, my visit wouldn’t amount to an act of war. Yet, Silas wanted me to half of the kingdom’s army at their entrance? That would give even a blind man reason to think otherwise
|_ Silas, is this your way to prevent this inspection from happening? To be fair, it was a brilliant tactic.

But why are you so against this? My eyes hardened. Could it be that this would ruin some of your plans? A glint appeared in my eyes.
I studied the soldiers‘ faces. Each wore the same solemn, weary look, as though they were about to march towards their certain death. Beside me, Silas stood cold and stoic, but his eyes betrayed his curiosity, watching me carefully.
Suddenly, I laughed. A high–pitched, loud laugh–almost unhinged. It startled everyone. The warriors turned to me, their expressions a mixture of confusion and fear. Even Silas looked momentarily shaken, while Ael stared as if I had lost my mind. But Lignored them all as another face appeared in my mind.
An alluring face with dangerous eyes.
Rowan, the handsome rogur king with an evil smile.
11 show up at your door with this army, how would you react? A playful smile tugged at my lips as a flicker of red flashed in my eyes
“Kowan, would you grow anxious The smile played on my lips. “If you see the army, would you still welcome me with open arms? The thought amused me greatly.
Silas, unable to suppress has curiosity any longer, stepped closer. “Is everything all right, my lady?” His voice was soft and gentle, a deceptive sweetness I had once believed was genuine.
“But what a big lic
I raised an eyebrow at him. “Everything is fine,” my voice was cold.
“If the council insists I bring the warriors, then I will bring them I told him. A flicker of surprise crossed Silas‘ face, Clearly he hadn’t expected me to agree so easily, Hut I wasn’t finished
“However, I do not approve of you accompanying us.” My voice tunised sharp.
Silas froze for a moment, and behind him, Ael’s eyes widened in disbelief. Panic flashed across her face as she hastily stepped forward
yster! How can you say that? Lord Silas stayed up late preparing everything for you!” She exclaimed in a hurried tone, as if she was afraid that I hum Silas with my remark
“And we’re going to the rogue pack! Pleasel Savier, we need Lord Salas to keep you safe!” She acted like a family who was worried sick for another My eyes turned colder
How laughable. I. the queen of all wolves, the most powerful of all, needed protection?
No, this wasn’t about my safety. This was about surveillance. I am stepping beyond your expectations, threatening your control”

The room fell silent. Ael hesitated, realizing her words had betrayed her intent. “L. I mean… My sister she stammered. “I only want you to be safe. Lord Silas is so strong. He can protect you from that rogue bastard.” She glanced at Silas, her eyes full of expectation.
Sulas said nothing, though Arl’s face turned red.
Comical. I nearly laughed aloud. In the past, I thought Ael was a shy, innocent girl. But
now. Looking at her, I could only see a dog in heat.
So you want to use this inspection as an excuse to spend time with Silas? The thought made my eyes sparkle with amusement.
Speaking with mork innocence, I turned to her. “Sister, it looks like you want to join the inspection too. But as you know, one of us must always stay. in the castle to ensure its safety.”
“So, if you want me to bring Lord Silas, then you’ll need to stay behind”

In any case, it would all work our well. Leaving Silas alone in the castle was in fact dangerous, but it was a risk I was will Inspection without that risk, I would have to tolerate his presence.
Suddenly, an amusing thought appeared In my mind. It was of Rowan and Sibs clashing. My eyes sparkled. If that happened, Perhaps Rowan could “accidentally” twist his neck?
Thus began our journey to the Pack of Ambel. I, the queen, accompanied by Silas, the head of the council, and almost a thousand elite warriors.
We looked intimidating, as though marching to war. The sight amused me, I kept on chuckling until we reached the pack’s entrance.
To everyone’s surprise, the entrance of the rogue park was empty—eerily so.
After a few moments, a lone figure appeared. On one side, we were nearly a thousand strong. On the other, he stood alone. Yet, as the warriors recognized him. fear flickered in their eyes..
Rowan–the infamous Evil Rogue King–approached with a lazy, confident gait.
Suddenly, my heart skipped a beat. Because for the moment he appeared, his eyes never left mine.
