One year later, I was helping out the kids at the foster care, and I saw someone.
He was sitting by himself, looking at a toy airplane.
I walked up, got down, and told him, “Mikey?”
He looked up and stared at me for a bit.
“I remember you.”
I stared at him.
I remember carrying him and he was nice.
He liked my snacks and the things.

He smiled like Danny.
And I was sad.
He captured my emotions.
“What happened? Am I being bad?”
He was just like my son.
I shook my head and said, “I just saw my
son.”
“Where is he?”
I touched his head: “He is in the stars.”
He realized it.

“Don’t be sad. I will see you again and make
you feel better.”
He curled up next to me and went to sleep.
I put my ear to his chest, and heard the heart
beating.
And I was over it.
I did not want to hurt Mikey.
I wanted to do what was right.
One year ago Mikey was there, now he is
skinner.
“I’m sorry.”
Mikey said.

I froze.
He looked down, and clenched.
“I know my heart, came from your child.”
“My parents did bad and hurt you.”
“I’m sorry.”
I was there.
I hugged him.
I got my face near him.
I listened to him.
He was doing what I should do.
I closed my eyes and was crying.
I stopped and held him for the last time.
“Live with the heart of Danny, live for him.”
When I left, he kept following me to the door.
I didn’t go back, and I didn’t look.
I won’t ever do that again.
I love Danny.
