Chapter 9
“Right now, call Lucian. And cancel that flight of yours. Don’t think for a second I don’t know you’re planning to run off again.“”
I looked at Elara, as tears welled up in my eyes. “But Elara, do you think Lucian and I will end up like that too?“}]
“No, you won’t.”
“Why not?”
“Because I believe that a man with enough self–restraint, who values substance over superficiality, would never be foolish enough to lose the girl he truly cares for. You really think he’s like Dorian, that fool?”
I shook my head. Lucian was definitely not Dorian.
“So, go on, call him, hon. You can’t even imagine how happy he’ll be.“}}
I imagined Lucian being so happy. But I never expected that a man in his late twenties, the successful CEO of a family business, would be so overjoyed like a kid upon receiving my call.
Elara grinned at me. “Bella, are you happy?“}
I nodded, “I guess I am really happy.“”
“See? You’re happy, and Lucian’s even happier. Isn’t that all that matters?“}
Then Elara chuckled, “Every time I think about how miserable Dorian might be, it just makes my day.”}
“Or maybe not. He might already have someone new by his side.” I chuckled softly. “Elara, let’s not mention him anymore.“}
At that moment, I could say those words without a flicker of emotion. As if that man had nothing to do with me anymore.”
Just as I stepped out of the bar, Lucian’s car pulled up outside. He stood there, arms open wide, embracing the evening breeze.
i paused for a moment to take him in. He really was handsome, ticking all the boxes for my taste.”
Men can fancy multiple women at once, moving seamlessly from one to another without even a formal breakup. So, naturally, there’s nothing wrong with me finding love after a breakup.
I walked towards him, and he strode towards me. In the bustling crowd, Lucian and I kissed like there was no one around us.
His heartbeat was racing.
I touched the back of his neck, feeling the heat.}
“Lucian, are you running a fever?“}
His forehead pressed against mine, and he breathed heavily, voice low, “Isabella, I don’t know what’s happening to me. Whenever I’m near you, it just happens.“}
I giggled, standing on tiptoe to kiss his chin. “Maybe it’ll get better with more proximity?”
Lucian’s ears turned an even brighter shade of red.
He cupped my face, his gaze intense and warm. “Isabella, what am I to you now?”
I teased him, “What do you think?“}
“Just a fling or a boyfriend?”
He asked but then buried his face in my neck before I could respond, murmuring, “Never mind, don’t answer that. I don’t want to know right now.”
I wrapped my arms around his waist, pulling him closer. “Are you sure you don’t want to know? Boyfriend.“}] Meanwhile, Dorian’s car idled at the entrance of a narrow alley. He stepped out and walked into its depths.
An old tailor lived there, someone whose ancestors once crafted garments for aristocrats. Now retired, he rarely accepted clients.
But Dorian had his ways to persuade the old man. The wedding dress Isabella had shredded was sent here for restoration about two weeks ago, and today, it was nearly finished.
As he walked, Dorian pondered Jasper’s words from a few days ago. He wasn’t wrong.
Every girl dreams of wearing a wedding dress and marrying the one she loves.
He and Isabella were together for seven years, and yet, he never once thought about proposing.!!
