soldies trainer, wou are really good at this
to be happy or to be disappointed at that. The statement was too backhanded, but she just chour to force out a n
compliment. The trainer from Black Ridges Pack grinned at her.
“You should. You’re really good. I think you might even be better than my other colleagues back home. The man said as he took his wooden staff
ground. It was the weapon he used while they trained earlier.
She wasn’t able to participate in yesterday’s assessment because of that confrontation
Declan had has Main Guard travel across the lands first thing in the morning to start the assessment for today. He brought with him some soldiers from their pack that will also be training them and helping them secure their lands
Decian just followed them to Rocky Mountains over an hour later after dealing with some security fixes in one of their lands before he travelled,
After the confrontation. Declan apparently issued all of the trainers of the pack to be assessed and watched to see what needed to be improved for
their offense against their common enemy.
she heard a lot of things from yesterday’s assessment.
“I’m not sure about that. You got the best soldiers in the land. You’re practically ruling the werewolf community. I’m pretty sure you have the best people to be able to achieve that Lauren shrugged, wipline the sweat on her forehead.
“That doesn’t mean we can no longer improve. Take the compliment. Williams. You deserve it.”
She just smiled at the Main Guard of Black Ridges Pack, still not sure whether he was just being nice to her or he was being genuine.
She knew her skills were better than most, but to have such a high compliment from someone leading the strongest soldier units in the lands, was something else. Especially when his Alpha basically slapped everyone in their faces yesterday about how “weak‘ and ‘unprogressive‘ their techniques
The first thing Lauren noticed when she got out of her house this morning was the salty mood of Jasper and the rest of the trainers. Even Edwin, who’s usually nonchalant, was showing annoyance and tiredness in his face
When she asked what happened, they basically just told her how hard Alpha Declan and Beta Yuan were. And how they basically insulted them and their techniques.
“It seemed like your ex took it out on us when you didn’t take him back.”
“Edwin.”
Lauren could only sigh and shake her head at Jasper when he called Edwin in a warning
lone.
“It’s okay,” she said and just kept her silence the entire morning until she was called for her own assessment. Which thankfully was only with the Main Guard who just arrived.
“So, what’s next? Are you going to teach me some new techniques?” She asked when she was able to finally catch her breath after standing around.
Jerome shook his head. “Honestly, no. Your skill in fighting is already good. It is exactly what we’re teaching, to be quick and go for an instant kill if you can’t shift. And you are very fast. One of the fastest–if not the fastest werewolf I’ve trained with.”
Lauren shrugged. “I have to. It’s my only strength as a person who can’t shift.”
“Which is what we need to immediately defeat Vampires. Werewolves are stronger, but they can be quicker. And in a warzone, to be quick has a greater advantage. There might be no time to shift because they already locked you in a death grip.”
Lauren nodded, understanding his point. “What else should I do, then?“.
Jerome pushed a strand of brown hair out of his forehead. He barely broke a sweat with their tight. To Lauren’s utter disbelief.
“Continue teaching. Maybe you can also teach your co–trainers with your techniques. They rely too much on their wolves, which is actually the common rauer of why Werewolves get defeated by Vampires. Remember always that there might be no time to shift. So they gotta learn to buy some time if they really want to shift.”
“Tim not sure
tre about teaching my co–trainers. But I’ll help in any way I can
Jerome’s lips lifted a little. Lauren thought he was going to be tough to get along with, but the man was just formal, but gentle (outside of combat) and very decent.

They stood around the grounds, silence filling in the air as they gave
rach other time to rest before they go back to their work.
The pack has already been informed about the changes. Lauren could see some of them being skeptical about the presence of the Black Ridget Pack soldiers in their territory. They’ve heard about what Declan has been doing, so some were kind of fearful. And most are just mad that they were ‘pushed‘ to ‘surrender to the tyrant Alpha who wanted to conquer their territory.
Jasper was yet to announce the full details of Alpha Declan and his soldier’s presence in their pack. They just finished assessing all the trainers and teachers in the pack, and transferring some supplies they thought they’d need for further protection.
The announcement will be done before dinner time.
“Alright, you are dismissed and my assessment will be taken to the Alpha Lauren nodded at Jerome.
“I’ll see you in the announcement The Main Guard nodded at her and she smiled. She started walking towards her home, where her kids are waiting for her.
Lauren was still
to do this.
was still apprehensive over Declan’s claim on her children. Well, she was just really anxious about how they were going to d
Her children may just be 4 year–olds, but they are very smart. They understand things quite clearly. And her years of avoiding the question about their father, for sure already made an impact in their young minds.
“But I guess
I guess this is for the best, she sighed to herself and continued walking to her house.
But as she jogged towards their porch, she suddenly felt some familiar presence inside their home. Her brows immediately creased as she opened
the door.
“Damon-” her scream was cut when the tempting aroma of her mate filled her nostrils.
Lauren’s eyes widened.
He didn’t even wait for her!
“Damon‘ Dahlia?” She called as she looked around their house. None of the twins were there, so she followed the smell and it was across their kitchen. On their backyard.
“Damon. Dahlia? Honey?” She continued as she opened their back door.
Three pairs of blue eyes went to her, making her freeze on her spot. She swallowed, her heart pounding loudly at her chest when it dawned on her how undeniably similar her son and daughter were to their father.
“Mommy! He got the kite for us! He’s very n nicel Dahlia exclaimed as she clapped her tiny hands. She beamed widely at Declan who was smiling tenderly at the sight of his daughter.
Lauren’s heart clenched, realizing that she was at the scene she had only ever imagined happening. She fantasized over this. A fantasy she thought would never happen.
But now that it is, she was rather nervous.
“Thank you, Sir.” Damon said, staring at Declan. And Lauren could only bite her lip at the awe and adoration she could see in her son’s eyes as he gazed at his father’s larger formi.
“You’re welcome. Damon.”
Lauren could no longer hold it and walked towards them. The sound of Declan speaking of his son’s name made her chest tight. And she didn’t know what she was feeling exactly.
“Why are you here? You didn’t even tell me.”
Derlan stood up from kneeling down and faced her. Lauren kept her face emotionless as she saw how gentle and loving his face was as he met his children for the first time.
“I just ran across them. I saw then trying to get their kite from a tree.” He pointed at the nearest tree in the backyard. Lauren knew he was telling the truth. It had happened several times before.
She sighed deeply and looked at her son and daughter. They were both looking at them with awe in their faces.
Η
“Mommy……“ Dahita called, making her force a single on her face.
Lauren knelt down to level herself with her daughter who kept on glancing at Declan’s tall figure watching them.
“Yes, honey? Are you hurt somewhere?” Dalilia took her head.
