Lauren sighed and put down the apple she was handing to Damon. The boy smiled and Lauren touched a hand on his cheek, her eyes taking in that he was finally awake after four days.
Glory approached Lauren who had been sitting beside her son since this morning. The healer checked Damon and saw that he indeed had already flushed whatever traces of venom in his system. She healed him some more with her affinity, and she knew the boy would be fine.
What she was worried about was his mother. Lauren has been having severe headaches these past few days. And no matter how many times she tried examining her again and again, she just couldn’t spot where the problem is.
But Glory knew. She knew Lauren was going through something physically.

worried about the fact that she barely had any idea about what was going on with her.
Glory didn’t openly admit it, but everyone tells her she is the best healer all over their land, and she knew it was true.

Glory noticed how her beautiful smile faded at hep words. She observed her, but Lauren looked away and turned to Damon who had dored off as they conversed.
“What’s the matter, dear!” She did her best to sound as gentle as she could.
She knew there was some issue regarding their Alpha and Lauren’s relationship, but Glory never asked the Alpha about it nor anyone. She was just glad Alpha Declan trusted her enough to let her be one of the very few people who knew that he was married to this woman and had two beautiful
children.
Lauren sighed. “You know the Alpha and I are no longer together. I. I am not the Luna of Black Ridges Pack, or anywhere.
Clory didn’t know whether she should pry but the look of brokenness crossing over Lauren’s eyes was unmistakable.
“I know nothing about your past, dear. But may I give a little bit of advice for someone who has been married for 33 years?”
Lauren met her eyes, and her heart went out for the woman when she saw how sad her eyes truly looked. Only if anyone looked as close as she did at the moment.

Glory smiled at the sight. Her daughter was also the highest high she felt like she’s reached in her married life.

A small smile crossed over Lauren’s small face. She continued caressing Dahlia’s cheek as the little girl finally closed her eyes. But Glory could wasn’t still of happiness. Her eyes held sadness in it.
“I do remember why we marned. The very reason of it. And it’s the reason why we’re not together anymore, Glory” She turned to the healer, and tears already threatened to spill from her sweet brown eyes.
“We didn’t marry for love. We didn’t marry because we were mates. And we most definitely didn’t marry by choice. At least not him” She shrugged. trying to brush of her tears and sadness.
But the emotions were spilling out of her, Glory didn’t know these details. And she could only imagine what this inother had gone through, bringing up twins in a broken marriage.
Lauren smiled at her and wiped the sadness out of her face. She glowed amidst her sickness and situation. Glory then realized how strong she was despite her sweet and gentle presence.

Hurt flashed in her eyes again before confusion came back. Glory still couldn’t quite figure out why Alpha Declan seemed to be the one who didn’t want this. Why would he not want his wife? He sounded so in love with her with the way he spoke highly about Lauren. And from the few times she saw them interact, she could definitely feel how different their Alpha was everytime Lauren was around.
