Chapter 43
“Grandpa Harry, where’s Mom?”
Harry, who has stayed in Damon’s hospital room and is currently listening to Dahlia yap about her toys and playmates, suddenly looked at Damon who had just woken up from another sleep.
His grandson looked around the room, searching for his mother who has been gone for more than an hour now.
“She said she was coming back” Damon continued in a small voice.
Harry looked at the door, als waiting for Laurens to come back after excusing herself carlier
He and Glory asked her about what she meant that Declan and the rest of the southern Alphas were in danger. He could see the shock and panic in her the moment she said those words, but Lauren shook her head and put a palin on her face,
“It must be nothing” She dismissed, looking down on her fingers as if there was something she was seeing that none of them could.
Harry and Glory continued watching her. He noticed how Lauren had been constantly moving her shoulder, as if there was something hurting her
there:
“Are you okay? Just tell us if you are bothered by something.” he touched her other shoulder, unable to resist the urge to comfort her
Lauren looked at him and Glory, opening her mouth as if to say something. But after a few more seconds, she closed it and once again stared at her

“Are you coming back, Mommy?” Dahlia screamed after seeing her walk out. Lauren froze on her spot and turned towards them.
Harry could see panic in her eyes, but she was trying to mask it. She nodded at her daughter and forced a smile out of her mouth.
“Yes. Il be back later. Eat well, okay?”
The twins nodded their heads, looking back at the plate that Harry left on the bed when Glory and him ran towards Lauren’s figure earlier

The healer and Harry looked at each other briefly, weirded out by Lauren’s sudden behavior. They let her get out. Maybe she needed the fresh air.
But it has been an hour or so since she left. And it was pouring heavily outside.

He was reminded of Declan when he was younger. He wasn’t exactly a mama’s boy, but he had a special bond with his mother that Harry couldn’t compete with
He grieved his wife deeply but it was another form of sadness seeing his son lose his beloved mother. It was hurtful for him to see Declan miss his. mother everyday since they lost her.
Since then, he did his best to provide all the love, care and protection that he knew Declan was going to miss from his wife.
Speaking of which, he thought of Declan’s on–going meeting with the southern pack leaders. The thought of Lauren’s statement earlier bothered

All of them were started when a guard suddenly came running from the now opened door of the hospital room.
Finding his feet, the young werewolf soldier bowed his head briefly, just realizing what he did: invading an Ivanov’s space.
“What’s the itallet,
er, Joel?” Harry asked, sering the panic that ensued in the face of their soldier
Prople continued calling him Alpha despite hus opposition. But it was Declan who continued encouraging it, not minding a bit bow loyal their packinates were to him—at least the old ones. The new additions to the pack were all bowing down to Declan seeing him as nothing less of the great leader they could ever with for.

It didn’t take a while before he did when he saw a crowd, watching the Alpha and his Beta walk inside the pack grounds, looking all exhausted, dirty and bruised.
Harry was able to breathe properly when he didn’t see any scratches or bites in their naked chests. They had just shifted from their wolf forms.
“Tell me what happened,” he said as soon as Declan was within an earshot.
Those piercing blue eyes like his went to him
“We were ambushed by almost fifty Vampires on our rendezvous in the middle of the Southern lands. Alpha Wallace was injured, the same as Alpha Gilmore. But both were now being healed at Rocky Mountains Pack.”
Fifty? Harry was stunned.
He could see and hear how breathless Declan still was. Looking closely at his son, he knew immediately he came from a huge fight. He may not have any bite marks, but he’s got real huge bruises and some wounds that he could already tell that were not by vampires‘ direct contact. His woll’s bright gold eyes were also still slipping in and out of his sapphire pair,
Declan and Yuan barely break a sweat after running from the South to the Northern borders. The fight must have been terrible.
“What of the Crystal Seas? How many survived?” He continued, taking Yuan by the arm as the Beta just suddenly limped. Harry was quick to give commands to the guards to immediately have someone care for them. The guards quickly ran and did as was told.
Declan shook his head. “The vampires used Crystal Seas as a route to not get traced for when they attacked us. They’ve managed to kill eight soldiers just to pass through. But they barely touched the pack.”
“They must have known where you were going, then.” Harry concluded, which Declan nodded to.
“And I’m going to find out how that happened when this was supposedly a secret meeting. A meeting that was spontaneously decided just this morning” Declan clenched his fists, determined to get all the necessary information he needed to get to the vampires.
Those vampires really tried one–upping him. But he won’t allow them to.
“What happened Deck? How did you survive such an attack? Fifty vampires? Harry couldn’t help the worry from slipping in his tone now. Despite not seeing any bite marks, he was still worried that he may just be running on adrenaline that’s why he’s not acting like he was in pain. That he might have an injury.
But consistent in his strong stature, Declan just nodded. “Just an approximation, but they seemed endless.”
“We thought we weren’t going to survive until someone came to help us.” Yuan said, making Harry turn to him.
He suddenly saw a burn mark on Yuan’s hands, as if he just dipped his finger on black ashes.
“Were you burned?” He took the Beta’s hand, worried, but he didn’t see any burn wounds on it. Yuan shook his head,
“This was the remnants of the Vampire I was holding by the neck before that entity came and saved us.”
“Entity?” Harry sounded like a broken radio repeating their words now, but he was very curious. He’s never heard such thing before. He turned to

Declan met his father’s eyes, and Harry immediately saw the sparkle of hope and excitement in those usually cold orbs.
