Chapter 45
It was way past dinner time and yet Lauren hasn’t come back.
Declan was getting agitated, and his only consolation was he wasn’t feeling anything bad from his matebond with her. If she was in pain or in danger, he could have felt it by now. It was the only thing that was keeping him from commanding what’s left of his troops to search for her
Declan looked at his father who was sitting on the couch. They were both inside Damon’s hospital room. He played with Damon and Dahlia earlier.
For a moment, his worries were lifted. He was so happy to finally see Damon healthy again. Glory reported how she could no longer trace any vampire venom in him and that he was one of the very rare cases where it didn’t kill him.
They were just lucky that he had only been scratched and wasn’t directly
y bitten. It was the reason why the venom wasn’t able to truly penetrate his system like it usually does with bite marks,
But then Glory also reported Lauren’s case.
The healer looked like she wasn’t sure about how she’d feel about Lauren’s very quick recovery.
Please just continue monitoring her. As long as she is well, I am happy,” he said when he saw Glory’s reluctant face. She nodded at him.
*1, as well, Alpha. But there’s just she paused, looking away from his eyes.
“What is it?” Declan asked.
Glory looked up at him and met his eyes. He saw that she was worried about something else
“Alpha upon observation, I just saw something that I’ve never seen before.”
“Go on.” He urged when Glory continued pausing.
Glory couldn’t stop thinking about those red eyes she suddenly saw in Lauren that day. She didn’t know what to make of it. She already dug through some of her healing books and read some side effects about vampire venom, but she couldn’t find anything valuable.
She wasn’t sure in herself whether Lauren was safe from danger. or she was becoming danger herself.
She was really confused.
Sighing, she decided to shake her bead at her Alpha who was curiously waiting for her to continue.
“Lauren’s case is just very different. Alpha. I do not know what to make of it. But yes, I will continue observing her to see her. I’ve also been reading through some legends about this.”
what that y
venom did to
She decided not to tell him yet. She’d just r
report to him about
everything when she gat ber confusions clear.
Decian nodded. He then focused his attention on his son who’s face brightened upon seeing him.
Declan sighed, feeling very warm and blessed about how his children were receiving him after being absent for the first few years of their lives.
He was very grateful that Lauren was able to raise them right. Despite i
her anger towards h
him, she didn’t plant any bad seed about him.
But now, he was getting really worried. It’s been another hour since she hasn’t made an appearance. He already fed Damon and Dahlia, and now they were starting to dore off for the night after they continued playing
“I have to go, Dad. I need to start searching for Lauren”
Harry nodded. “Tin abo starting to worry. I’ll stay here with the kich”
Declan stood up from his seat and kissed his sleepy children Him and Harry had also been doing their best to distract them away from the fact that their mother was still nowhere to be found, Daldia and Damon had been asking about her from time to time, but they didn’t have an acceptable
track the He was also bombarded by all the work they had to do after that attack. He continued communicating with his troops whom he sent to
upires‘ coven. He wanted to know how they got to them that quick, and where their information came from
“Let me know when you find her, Harry saul as Dieslan started walking towards the door.
Declan tudded at his father. “I will. I’ll suine back.”
He got out of the room and immediately started searching through the forest. He didn’t know where else to dad her. He didn’t know where Lauren would go. He didict have the slightest clue.

Chapter 45
He asked the guards around the pack bonders whether they saw her, but none of them reported that they had. Declan was getting frustrated and
severely worried.
He wanted to send a group to search for her, but somehow, he wanted to trick himself into thinking that is was nothing serious. That Lauren was. safe and that she really just gave herself time to be alone.
Entering into the dark woods, the cold started seeping through his skin. He looked at the sky, seeing the moon that casted silver light around the
forest
‘Please. Lauren. I need you to be safe. I need you here with me. He prayed silently, before he started searching through the northern woods.
But no matter where he went, he couldn’t trace hep scent. He had already crossed the borders when he suddenly sniffed her, only to still not see her anywhere near..
He was so tempted to start commanding a group to search with him when an idea suddenly came inside his head.
Without wasting more time, Declan ran back to the pack and sped through the old library where Lauren often went when they were younger.
She once shared how she loved staying there–not only because of the books, but also for how quiet it was. It was calming her.
Declan made his way inside the library. His steps got lighter, as if he was sneaking on someone.
He turned the knob slowly and walked in. The lights were warm and dim, but the entire vibe of the library was still the same when he was younger. When he often found Lauren sneaking inside it whenever she and her parents visited.
And just like how he’d seen her before, he found Lauren, sitting on the ground between the second to the last shelf, where she used to put a mat on and read or sleep.
Declan heaved a very heavy sigh. The anxiety that has been riding his body washed off at the image of her sitting form, looking out the window through the shelves that were beside her right shoulder.
“I found you,” he said. It was an echo of the words he always said when they were younger.
Lauren turned to him, her brown eyes that always felt warm to his cold surroundings, wrapped around his heart, tugging him closer as if he wasn’t already in love with her.
For a moment right there, Declan was thrown back to the years when they enjoyed each other’s company more than anything. When he anticipated every visit Lauren and her parents did in their pack, or them visiting them to theirs. When they went to school together. And when they had moments together alone
He was thrown back to the years when he hadn’t hurt Lauren yet. When her eyes didn’t lose the warmth in them upon seeing him inside the library where she often waited for him to find her.
