Chapter 68
“Mommyl
The twins scream made Lauren step away from Declan. She stared at him for a moment as she gathered herself, both still confused and flustered
at the same time.
It was the first time they’ve ever kissed after so long.
“Are you okay! I’m going to get that bastard,” he seethed, looking at the now opened window, looking so dangerous and cold with his blue eyes intensely looking around.
from Declan’s
Lauren couldn’t say anything but just nod her head as both Damon and Daldia ran towards her to hug her legs. She looked away from angry face and focused on her kids. They both looked scared. They must have woken up with whatever was happening to her.
“What happened?” she asked, turning to Declan again as she noticed Yuan and Jerome with him.
“Get Glory here. Lauren needs to be examined after that motherf—
“Declan,” she called, seeing how furious he had gotten.
Declan turned to her and the ferocious intensity in his blue eyes turned gentler. “That monster tried taking you away from us. Here. In our very home. He dared insulting us like this.”
“Who was that? What did he do to me!” She grasped at her children, worrying how she almost succumbed to that monster.
“He’s called a Stranger.” Yuan spoke up, also looking worked–up. “He can get in and manipulate your mind. He will imprison you in your own head so he could make use of your mortal body for whatever ways he’d want.”
He heaved a deep breath and met Lauren’s eyes. There was fear in his brown eyes. “He’s gotten you in deep, Lauren. You’ve been under for almost ten minutes. We thought we’d lose you.”
Fear crept in her system. She looked at Declan once again who appeared to be still so angry. His fists were in a tight ball.
“H–How did you get me out? I thought I was in there for just a couple of minutes. Not more than two or three.”
“It takes a strong wolf to get out of a Stranger’s illusion.” Yuan answered again. “In most cases, that creature only needs a minute or even a few seconds to fully get a hold of someone. You withstood him long enough for us to help you out of it”
Lauren felt relieved and leaned in to kiss Damon and Dahlia’s head who were still clinging to her as if she was going anywhere. Their images in that illusion were so real.
“Everything looked real, even the emotions. It all felt like I could live there forever,” she whispered, a part of her still yearning for the place where she was taken. Especially to be with her parents. The memory of their death haunted her for years. It was her first time seeing them that happy again.
“That’s what he does, Declan answered, looking through the window where the Stranger must have escaped. “That creature uses hi
his victim’s deepest desires to lure them deeper into his trap. To make them complacent and have no consciousness of the reality of their worlds. To get them stuck in their heads and never to arise again.”
The intensity of it made Lauren fearful. She almost truly gave into
Lauren met Declan’s eyes. “Thank you for waking me up. For saving me.
Sher could still feel his lips on her as if it left a burning mark on her soft skin. And it would seem like she wasn’t the only one who was still feeling it when she saw how those deep eyes flicked from her eyes to her lips.
Lauren swallowed.
“My dear, Lauren. What happened?”
Their staring contest was cut off upon Harry’s arrival with Clory. They both marched inside the twls‘ room and approached her.
“I’m fine,” she stalleres, taking a deep breath. Glory immediately made her sit on the bed.
“I’ll take the kids out.” Yuan volunteered, holding Damon and Dahlia who had thankfully fallen sleepy once again.
“Take them to my room. They y will be sleeping with me.” Declan commanded, making Lauren look at him again.
He saw the slight protest in her face. Declan walked towards her. “They will be much safer with me. Same as you are. We will all be staying in one
room from now on,”
“Do you understand, Lauren?” He asked when she just gaped.

Glory touch on her arm made her flinch and wake up to her senses. She nodded. “Y–Yes, yes. I want them to be safe.”
Declan nodded. He sighed and looked out of the window again as Harry and Glory tended to her.
make them pay for this. If you hadn’t come, he would have done this to our children”
Lauren’s eyes widened as she realized this. “What do they want from us?”
He shook his head. “Probably to trunt me again. They do not like how we are creating a kingdom because it means our forces are becoming stronger. And they are acting quicker than they usually do. They’re desperate to win this. They risk their lives just to get to me like this,”
Lauren looked at Harry and Glory. “What happened!”
It was the healer who answered her. “The vampires who invaded were found. They attacked the guards even knowing the fact that they were outnumbered.”
“They did it as a distraction for the Stranger to get here and do his poisonous magic.”
“Do you really think this is about you. Deck
All eyes turned to Harry when he spoke. Declan raised a curious brow at his father.
What else would be their motive but to challenge me! You know how much of a threat they think of me. They have always wanted me dead”
Harry shook his head. “But haven’t you thought about how most vampire attacks have been directed to Lauren as of the late!”
Lauren’s chest thumped at his words. The elder man turned his deep blue eyes at her. Worry was in them.
“I’m afraid I know that vampire who killed Mano,” he proclaimed. Declan walked closer towards them in the bed. Glory stopped her observation around Lauren’s body for a moment as she also listened intently at the former Alpha’s words.
“I uw him when I was younger. And that vampire doesn’t come without a purpose. He’s never spoken to anyone but you, Lauren. And this is the fint time they’ve sent a Stranger to us. Given the circumstances, their invasion almost seemed uncalculated. It was a desperate attempt to get a hold
someone before they ran out of time.”
“But why me, Harry?” Lauren asked. “Is it because they’ve discovered that I am Declan’s ex–wife and we have children together that they’re targeting me
A pause fell between all four of them as they all waited for the former Alpha to speak.
Harry looked away, as if deep in thought. And for a brief moment, Lauren thought she saw something in those features. Recognition and sadness. but they quickly went away and his worried and curious expression came back to him.
But a certain silence Mlled the room amidst Harry’s spoken words. “Maybe they know something we don’t.”
He turned to her. “Have you ever wondered why you never had your wolf desphe having strong Alpha blood, Lauren?”
