14 Chapter 14 Amitabha Buddha
In the afternoon, Alexander Strong delivered an agreement to Julia Land on behalf of Noah Quarter, unaware of its contents. T
“Julia Land, I’m sorry, I couldn’t stop them last night.
Alexander truly felt apologetic.
Julia shook her head, “There were so many of them, and you couldn’t beat them, I still want to
thank you.”
She wasn’t the type to displace her anger onto others.
“Wesley Turner won’t appear in front of you anymore, he’s been put in jail, and the Quarter family has already ceased all cooperation with the Turner family”
Hearing that Wesley Turner was in jail and recalling the morning call from Leo Thompson, Julia thought he seemed to have helped her again.
As for the Quarter family stopping cooperation with the Turner family, Julia wasn’t naive enough to think Noah Quarter did it for her.
The business world is like a battlefield.
If the Turner family was in trouble, the Quarter family could possibly take over some of their assets to enlarge their own.
Alexander Strong wasn’t speaking on behalf of Noah Quarter, he simply wanted to assure Julia that the Turner family could no longer threaten her.
James Thompson brought a bag of food, knocked, and entered the hospital room, seeing the man from last night was also there.
He asked lazily, “Do you need me to leave?”
Julia shook her head, “No need.
Alexander nodded to James, greeting him, “Hello, I’m Alexander Strong, thank you for last night.”
James gave a faint smile, “You’re welcome, after all, she called me uncle, and my last name is Thompson.”
Julia felt a moment of embarrassment.
Hearing this, Alexander thought this man was a relative of Julia, and the two shook hands lightly, “Nice to meet you, Mr. Thompson.”
He then turned to Julia, “Secretary Land, rest well, come back to work next week fully rejuvenated, you can call me if you need anything.”
Julia, “Okay, thank you.”
Until Alexander left.
James casually started opening the bag of food and asked, “You’re still going back to work at the

Quarter family?”
He had someone look into the matter.
Noah Quarter took her to apologize to that Mr. Turner.
After all this, she still wanted to go back to work?
Even soft persimmons have tempers, right?
She didn’t seem like a soft persimmon.
He said coldly, “Julia Land, do you love him that much?”
Before Julia could respond to James, a nurse urgently knocked and entered calling for Doctor Thompson.
“Doctor Thompson, there are many people in the emergency room with severe burns, they need your treatment.”
James glanced at Julia, then turned and left the hospital room in strides.
James supported her through an abortion.
He had hired a maid to cook meals thrice a day to nourish her body.
Julia also noticeably sensed his increased distance from her.
He was angry.
Julia wondered for two days, truly not understanding why he was angry.
The maid brought out today’s cooked fish. “Julia, this is yellowlip fish, Mr. Thompson had it air–lifted from the northern part of the South Sea, this fish is very good for nourishing the body.”
The maid, hired by James from Fragrant River, occasionally spoke with a Cantonese accent.
The maid said with a smile, “Mr. Thompson really cares about you.”
Julia understood the phrase spoken in Cantonese by the maid at the end ‘really cares about you:
Understanding it, she was astonished.
‘Really cares about you‘ means he cares very deeply for you.
Sometimes, Julia didn’t want to overthink why James was so good to her.
But no man is without reason good to a woman.
Unless he flirts and acts inappropriately everywhere.
But clearly, James wasn’t that type of person.
So why was he so good to her?
Also, his reason for being angry seemed to be because she returned family as a secretary.
to work at the Quarter

Eating the fish, Julia narrowed her eyes, pondering more and more a possibility.
He was interested in her, or he had done something to hurt her, or he had an ulterior motive.
After finishing the fish, she wiped her mouth, calculated the cost of the fish, sent the money to James, and then sent him a message.
[Mr. Thompson, thank you, the fish was delicious]
After waiting a while at the other end of WeChat, seeing he had received the money, he replied with just one word.
[Hmm]
Julia asked, [Are you angry?]
When she reached out with her little feelers to probe the situation, she used ‘you‘ respectfully.
Leo Thompson listened absent–mindedly to the old monk chanting scriptures, his well–defined fingers typing two words on his phone.
“No.”
Why should he be angry? There was nothing to be angry about.
Their relationship was merely a mix–up.
She could do as she pleased.
The old monk was a high–ranking monk brought in by Trevor Sullivan, who thought Leo was behaving too anomalously good recently.
Leo put away his phone and crossed his legs to listen to the scriptures.
“Master, please teach me how to chant the Amitabha Sutra”
The Amitabha Sutra could help the spirits of the deceased find salvation.
This was the only thing he could do for the child who was never meant to be born.
Despite the young man’s seemingly careless and esteemed demeanor, there was an indistinct ferocity about him.
The old monk still had some skill in reading people.
“Amitabha Buddha.”
Julia Land didn’t know that at this moment, Leo was at home learning to chant scriptures; seeing that he had only replied with two words, she decided not to send any more messages.
Regardless of why he was angry, there was no need to delve deeper.
The difference between them was like heaven and earth.
Moreover, she wasn’t planning on starting a new relationship now.
She and Noah Quarter had a deal to make.
Julia was always clear–headed about what she needed to do.

Both had maintained an attitude of avoiding each other.
However, Julia always heard from her aunt that Mr. Thompson had again air–freighted some ingredients to nourish her health.
Their WeChat chat screen displayed only transactions and money received.
Initially, she only wanted to recuperate for a week, but ended up doing so for another.
On the day of her discharge, Julia finally sent a message to Leo.
“Mr. Thompson, thank you for your help during this time, I am very grateful.”
Leo had just completed a surgery, feeling somewhat exhausted as he bought a cup of coffee.
Sitting inside the cafe, he saw the message from Julia.
His eyes and brows relaxed; he sipped his coffee.
A server discreetly eyed the man sitting by the window, her cheeks flushing.
He was a handsome man with a distinguished demeanor.
Leo went to settle his bill and left the coffee shop, then called the aunt who cooked meals for Julia.
“Mr. Thompson, I’m going back to Fragrant River today”
“Don’t blame me for being nosy, sir, but if you fancy Miss Land, you should express it. Young people shouldn’t stay silent.”
Leo lit a cigarette, nimbly holding it between his fingers, chuckled lightly and replied in Cantonese, “I don’t fancy her, I am her uncle.”
The aunt gave an awkward smile.
So they were relatives.
Upon being discharged from the hospital, Julia canceled her hotel room, called a car, and sent her luggage back to Jade Gardens.
When she reached Jade Gardens, she learned that Grandma Quarter had also been hospitalized and would only be discharged the next day.
She thought about her deal with Noah Quarter.
Julia hadn’t unpacked her luggage when she first went to visit Grandma Quarter at the hospital.
When she arrived, Eliza Quarter and Leah Thompson were there too.
Eliza scoffed, “Grandma has been in the hospital for so long; why are you only coming now?”
Leah slightly furrowed her brows with elegance, saying, “Min, don’t disturb Grandma’s rest; you better go back first.”
Leah was Noah’s and Eliza’s mother.

superiority.
Seeing Mrs. Quarter reminded Julia of Leo.
She casually greeted Mrs. Quarter.
In the past, for Noah’s sake, she used to try hard to make a good impression on Mrs. Quarter.
Now, there was absolutely no need for that.
Grandma Quarter also scolded Eliza, “Your brother has said that your sister–in–law was on a business trip. Be gentler as a woman, don’t scold people at every turn.
Eliza made a zipping motion across her lips and blinked innocently, seemingly acting obedient.
But she felt resentful in her heart. Was the old lady confused?
Why could Julia, an outsider, get shares of the Quarter Family and still be treated so kindly?
“Little Julia, come over here and sit by Grandma.”
“You just returned from your trip, rest well, I will be discharged tomorrow.”
