Chapter 16
Aria lowered her eyelashes slightly, only taking a brief glance to see Lucy cradled in his arms. The mockery in her eyes was completely undisguised.
“Is there something you need?”
“You’re asking if I need something?”
Larry was so angered by her casual attitude that he laughed bitterly. His rage prompted him to set Lucy down, and his secretary immediately stepped forward to support her. No one noticed Lucy’s eyelashes flutter slightly.
Larry’s gaze turned cold and hostile as he looked over at Archer.
The man wore a custom–tailored suit that fit perfectly against his strong frame. He appeared to be nearly 6’3” tall, with broad shoulders and long legs. His features were sculpted and deep, and those dark, deep eyes seemed to carry an unmistakable significance. The aristocratic aura he exuded was too obvious to ignore. Even his casual glance made Larry feel a sense of danger.
He seemed like… someone from high society.
A powerhouse in financial circles.
But Aria had always stayed at home, never worked outside, and never had contact with financial elites. How could she possibly know someone of such caliber?
Moreover, if this man truly belonged to high society, how could Larry have never seen him before?
Larry concluded this man was probably hired by Aria, or perhaps just someone wearing expensive clothes to scam money and seduce women.
With these thoughts, contempt filled Larry’s eyes.
In truth, Larry’s unfamiliarity with Archer wasn’t surprising. Archer had been overseas managing Duncan Enterprises‘ larger international projects until recently. Plus, he maintained a low profile and rarely appeared in the news.
Those who associated with the Duncan family were truly from the upper echelons of society–all members of prominent families.
Larry had only held the position of Spencer Corp CEO for the past two years and lacked the capability to collaborate with the Duncan family. Naturally, he had no idea that the man before him was the Duncan heir he’d been desperately trying to meet.
“Aria, who is this man?”
“Why aren’t you at home at this hour? What are you doing at a hospital with a strange man… what’s your relationship with him?”
Aria had no desire to engage in this argument. Her voice was cold, “A former senior from school.”
Her introduction was as good as no introduction at all.

In Larry’s understanding, being Aria’s senior classmate likely meant he was wealthy, though he couldn’t recall anyone matching this description–probably from a minor family.
Remembering the custom dress Aria had worn that night, Larry’s face darkened as he wondered if this man had purchased it for
her.
“Senior classmate? More like your secret lover.”
Despite being the heir to the Spencer family, his words were remarkably crude.
Aria was disgusted by him.
Archer had been kind to her and attentive to her family. Larry’s attack now only made him seem foolish, laughable, and lacking in
manners.
“He is my friend and former senior,” she said.
At this point, Aria deliberately slowed her speech, “He arranged for the medical team to transfer my mother and brother here for treatment.”
Larry felt both guilty and furious.
He had brought Lucy to Harbour Hospital for a simple fever and cold, yet Aria’s mother and brother had been placed in other hospitals, their treatment constantly delayed.
Yet this suddenly–appearing “senior” had arranged their transfer to Harbour Hospital.
Larry felt humiliated, and his expression grew even darker.
