Book 1: Chapter 18
We had agreed on a date of April 15th. We chose April because we wanted a spring wedding and the 19th because it was his hockey number. That
ses only four and a half months to prepare a wedding I was a little concerned about the time frame, but Angelique was certain that she could pull it
was a professional at planning events and this was one that she was excited to take on
Angelique took control and all I had to do was say yes or no to all of her questions. Poor Kyle did not get much of a say in anything. Angelique said would prefer it that way but I was not so sure He didn’t complain if he felt differently though He just went with the flow.
Angelique’s house became wedding central Magazines, folders and flowers covered the entire living room: Centerpieces and champagne glasses
across the countertops It looked like a confused mess to me, but Ang knew where everything was. She had some kind of system, though it
was not obvious to me what it was..
the had a lot of things to do broken down by time frame. The first month seemed as if it were going to be the busiest. We had to pick a venue, decide on a dress, and pick a caterer, cake, flowers and band among other things. I immediately became overwhelmed Angelique, on the other hand, remained calm and in control. She seemed to thrive on the chaos.
We first had to decide on a dress. We thumbed through magazines trying to find something that I might like. It was my second wedding so to me. white was out of the question, but Angelique said that was old fashioned and I could wear black if that was what I liked. That was not what I liked
1 locked through magazine after magazine waiting for something to jump out at me, but nothing ever did. Maybe I needed to see the dresses in person. So Angelique and I headed to a bridal shop and began perusing the dresses. Ang wanted me to try on every other one. I was not as enthusiastic.
I did humor her and tried on more than I would have liked. There were A–line dresses and ball gowns even some that made you look like a mermaid. You could find ones made of lace, ones that were bejeweled to the max or ones that had feathers, Feathers, really? I was more of a simple gal. I wanted
Trying on all the dresses was actually quite a workout and I began to glisten, Angelique says that real women do not sweat, they glisten Whatever you want to call it, I was getting overheated and needed to sit down for a bit. I took a seat on a couch outside the fitting rooms and the salesperson brought me a large glass of water.
sitting there trying to cool down and I began watching all of the other girls there trying on dresses. They were all so young, early twenties if They all seemed to wear a size two and seemed so happy and oblivious to what life can bring you. I wanted to scream to all of them, “Just wait nother year. Make sure this is the right man for you” If only I had waited a few more years, maybe I would have realized that Carter was not the night for me and I would not have a divorce under my belt. Maybe, I would be marrying the man of my dreams in a white dress instead of an ivory one
sufficiently cooled down, I began slipping into dress after dress and after what seemed like the millionth dress that I had to either step pull over my head, I found one that was suited more for me. I walked over to the full length mirror and took a look. The beautiful ivory dress fit me as if it were made specifically for me. It was a satin strapless ball gown that had a floral appliqué on the front and it had a dropped waist with ruching on the bodice that accentuated my curves and gave me an amazing silhouette. I turned to see what Angelique thought and she didn’t have to tell me. She was standing there with tears in her eyes. I knew then that I had found the dress.
I
There was no need for alterations so I paid for the dress and they bagged it up so that I could take it with me that day. We were on to the next thing on the list. Now that I had the color of the dress picked, it would be easier to choose a color for the wedding. I chose lavender. I thought that would be a great color for a spring wedding
I would wear my hory dress, the bride’s maids would wear a lavender dress and the men would wear a black tux ivory shirt, with a lavender west and te We wanted to keep this an intimate ceremony so we only chose to have two bride’s maids and two groomsman and one beautiful little flower girl.
It was not hard for me to decide on my rides maids. Angelique would be my maid of honor and my sister, Katie, would be my bride’s maid. Fizabeth, of course would be our Bower girl. Kyle chose his brother Handy, as his best man and Brandon to be his groomsman. Brandon and Kyle had become good friends over the past year and it made both Angelique and I very happy. It made it easier for us girls to spend more time together when our men got along so well
The annum was another bay decision. If Kyle had his way, we would be getting married at the hockey rink on the ice in a pair of skates. He even wanted to hand out rally towels to the guests for wedding favors. Angelique’s reply to this request was that there was no way her best friend was going To get marred at an ice rink that smelled of feet and sweaty hockey gear Kyle obviously lost this argument.
After weeks of cycling, we finally found a place that Angelique thought suitable enough for my nuptials to be held. It was an old ballroom that was now used en cuy for weddings it was a beautiful stope building that resembled a castle. The walls were hand–painted with murals and the woodwork throughout was hand carved and polished to a high sheen
It had a grand stam ne that was made of marble stairs and had two large wooden handrails on either side. It came right down the middle of the room the lnde would walk down the steps to an archway of flowers where the groom would be waiting and they would exchange their vows. It seemed perfect Loguki erutuon myself walking down the stairs to Kyle where he was waiting to take my hand.
Fortunately, the venue was available for April 19th and we put a deposit down to secure it for our wedding. Angelique made arrangements to come back on a later data to discuss how to set up the rooms for the ceremony and the reception. How many tables we would need and what color linens we
would want to use. All of the tiny little details would be discussed at said later date.
Kyle and I decided to take on the cake ourselves. Reluctantly, Angelique agreed. We decided on a local baker that Angelique had used on numerous ccasions and had always had a good outcome. We sat and thumbed through books filled with pictures of cakes she had previously made. Her work
We picked out a few that we liked and after telling the baker how many guests would be in attendance, she gave us a couple options for each cake. We agreed on a four layer cake made with square layers. It would be an ivory cake with lavender ribbons made of fondant wrapping around the bottom. of each
The top would be the place where I would set the cake topper that I had found online. Kyle might not have a say in a lot of the wedding details, but I was sure he would be happy with the cake topper. The bride and groom would be holding hockey sticks and wearing ice skates. The wedding official would be holding a puck about to drop it for a face–off between the two. It was my way of bringing a little hockey to our wedding
The baker brought us a plate of several little cakes to taste. We tried every piece and enjoyed every last morsel. They all seemned to just melt in our mouths. They were delicious. Kyle’s favorite was the red velvet cake and mine was the chocolate. We decided to alternate each layer with both flavors
We placed our order and the baker assured us that she would personally deliver our cake and set it up on the day of our wedding. That was one less thing that I would have to worry about on the day of our vows.
The music was also a pretty easy decision. Kyle had some hockey friends that had a band. They could play a lot of genres so that everyone would be happy. The live band would play at the reception for us. Angelique had some connections with the local orchestra She arranged for a few of them to come and play at the ceremony
I knew that Angelique could make all the rest of the decisions by herself. She had impeccable taste and so I handed over all decision making to her. She chose the caterer and the items that would be on the menu. She chose all the floral decorations and how the tables would be set up in the reception hall Any tiny detail, she would handle all I had to do, was show up and say “I do“.
The day was quickly approaching and the excitement was rising. I was definitely looking forward to becoming Kyle’s wife, I never thought that i would be divorced from Carter, but as it turned out, it was the best thing that ever happened to me. Because of Carter and his betrayal, I was about to marry a wonderful, loving and loyal man; a man who would never dream of cheating on me. I was about to marry the man of my dreams, Kyle Jacob Warner
