After Lucas and I officially got married, Ryan did’t settle down at all.
He had a major falling out with Silver Claws and left the pack, choosing to strike out on his own. He loudly declared that one day, he would defeat Lucas and win me back.
Unfortunately, Ryan was never particularly talented. Without the resources and support of Silver Claws, he lacked the ability to form his own wolf pack.
Lucas, on the other hand, shift all his efforts to domestic matters after our marriage. With the overseas resources he had already accumulated, he quickly secured his footing within Silver Claws. Adding my Alpha King bloodline to the equation, Lucas led Silver Claws to unprecedented heights.
One day, I asked him out of curiosity, this lifetime?”
What would you have done if you hadn’t married me in
A flicker of vulnerability and sorrow appeared in his eyes.
“My Luna,” he said softly, “let me tell you a story. Ten years ago, I happened to return to the pack to attend a coming–of–age ceremony for a wolf princess. At the celebration, a group of young ladies had an argument, and one of them accidentally spilled red wine on a little girl’s dress. The child’s pristine white gown was ruined, and she burst into tears.
“That day was supposed to belong to the princess, yet instead of being upset about her disrupted event, she rushed back to her study, returning with paint and brushes in hand. She calmed the little girl and used her paintbrush to transform the stain into a beautiful forest filled with blooming flowers. The little girl was delighted with her ‘new‘ dress.
“And me? I was utterly captivated by the clever and spirited princess. But at the time, that princess already had someone she loved. She was bold and passionate by nature. Even though I loved her, I genuinely wished for her to find the happiness she deserved.”
Hearing this story, which resonated so deeply with my own memories, I couldn’t stop the tears from welling up in my eyes.
