Chapter 4
Everything changed a little after I decided to be with Sybia. People in the office looked at Sylvia and me diferently. I couldn’t quite describe it, but their eyes had a mix of surprise and happiness.
Echose not to move in with Sylvia even though she hinted at the idea. Itunt it down. To me, deciding to live together without bully understanding my own feelings and without Introducing each other to our familes didn’t seem respectful to her.
“When the time’s right, I’ll move in with you,” I said, trying to keep a straight face.
She looked a bit disappointed, but there was also joy in her eyes. “Alright, I’ll go along with you for now. hul soon, I’ll take you to meet my parents. Hudson, I really like you. You’re such a good man.”
In the month that followed, we spent time shopping, watching movies, dining out, and traveling other felt like when had just started dating Selena. Those days with Sylvia werenely joyful
I thought happiness was finally within my reach–until one day, someone
one unexpected showed up when tarved at the office that morning, I noticed a vaguely familiar figure at the entrance. There was something off, though, something that didn’t quite match my memory
Ashehurned around, could hardly believe it. It was Zion–the same guy who once flaunted Selena’s love for him in front of me.
It had been two months since we had last met, and be looked thinner, his race more gaint, with deep circles under his eyes. He looked exhausted.
Wasn’the supposed to be happy with Selena? Why did he lookethis? What had he been through?
I felt a twinge of resentment and couldn’t be bothered to had my annoyance. “Zion, what are you doing here? I already and to divorce Selena. What else do you want?” Texpected him to get angry, but instead, he looked even sadder. His eyes held a mix of frustration and helplessness, and then, suddenly, he dropped to his knees in front of me. “Hudson, please,” he begged. “Please comeback Selenarely misses you she can’t the without you. I’m begging you to comeback”
His action stunned me, and 1 quickly pulled him to his feet. “What are you doing? This is embarrassing. If you have something to say, just say it. Don’t kneel I don’t need this from
I glanced at my phone, feeling a bit relieved that usually came in early. It was only 7:00 am, and there wasn’t anyone else around yet.
Watching him cry like that, I couldn’t help but feel contempt. A mum was supposed to stand tall–ishat was with all the tears
After a long back–and–forth, 1 finally managed to get him up. Seeing as we still had ste time before work, led him a nearby caté
I checked the time again and then looked at him, complete out of patience. “you’ve got something to say, just spit it out. I’ve gotta get to work soon and don’t have time to waste here with you.”
