He was in too much of a hurry to bother about that. “Leave them.” 

They had a romp in the car before returning to the company and enjoying each other for another two hours. Shawn only thought of calling Noelle when they were done. 

“The number you have dialed is currently unavailable, Please try again later.” 

This struck him as odd. Noelle never turned her phone off. 

Just then, Jessica came in with a cup of coffee for him. She boldly sat on his lap. “Why are you so anxious? I bet her phone’s just run out of battery.” 

She leaned against his chest, acting coquettishly. I made this coffee myself. Should I feed you?”

Chapter B 

Life was still the same as always, but something felt off to Shawn. He felt like something was missing–even the coffee tasted weird. He frowned and said, “Forget it. Get me a cup of tea 

instead.” 

Jessica muzzled against him, saying coyly, “Are you thinking of trying out a different cup of tea again, Mr. Pitt?” 

Her words made him uncomfortable. His voice dropped as he said, “Stop that. I’m not in the mood.” 

“Oh, come on. You’re making a big deal out of nothing. What can happen to her when she’s alone at home?” 

This upset Shawn. “Change the coffee to tea: Don’t make me say it a third time.” 

This time, Jessica didn’t dare say anything. She immediately did as told. She was supposed to be a gentle and understanding woman–she wouldn’t go against him. 

When Shawn’s assistant, Charlie Stone, brought him his schedule, he didn’t even dare speak loudly. “You have a meeting this afternoon, Mr. Pitt. It’s almost time.” 

Shawn’s plan had been to head home to see Noelle and take her out for lunch before hurrying back to the company to continue working. He’d had plenty of time, but he’d’wasted it on a passionate tryst with Jessica. He didn’t have time to return home now that his meeting was 

about to start. 

“How long do I have until the meeting?” he asked while going through his schedule. 

Charlie quickly calculated and said, “About an hour.” 

Shawn stood up. “I’m heading home. If I’m not back in time, tell them not to wait for me. Proceed per the agenda.” 

He didn’t give Charlie a reason, nor did he call his driver. Instead, he grabbed his car keys and turned to leave. 

This made Jessica feel insecure. She hurried to the door and stood in his way. Then, she held his hand and asked saucily, “I’m by your side, aren’t I? Why are you going to another woman?” 

Shawn wasn’t in a good mood, so he had no patience for her antics. He shook her off and said, “Don’t say things like that in the future.” 

She pouted. “I’ll do what I want. I don’t want to hand you over to another woman.” 

Charlie was uncomfortable at her words. He tooked around, frustrated that the windows wouldn’t open. They were over 40 stories up–if only he could just jump out.. 

Shawn turned to face Jessica, his expression cold and steely. His tone carried a hint of warning as he said, “When we started this, I already told you to remember your place. Noelle is my wife, and she will always be Mrs. Pitt.”
