Jack lowered his head. “What about the wedding ring? Can you return it to me? It has great significance for me.”
I raised an eyebrow. “If you go with me now to file for divorce, once the cooling–off period is over, I’ll return the wedding ring to you.“”
Jack quickly gathered the necessary documents and went with me to the civil affairs bureau.
As for the wedding ring, I had no intention of returning it to him.
Jack knew I wouldn’t help Olivia clarify things, so he registered an account and took all the blame on himself.
He and Olivia gained a bad reputation, and his company’s stock kept falling. Even so, he continued to speak up for Olivia.
I was just stupid to waste my time and energy accompanying someone who didn’t care much about me.
During this time, Olivia would use various means to show off how well Jack treated her.
But I thought, if Jack really loved Olivia that much, why did he have to borrow money to marry me in the first place?
How long could his love last?
As soon as the divorce cooling–off period was over, Jack eagerly divorced me.
Standing at the entrance of the civil affairs bureau, he reached out to ask for the wedding ring.
Right in front of him, I threw the wedding ring into the river.
“If you want it, go fish for it in the river,” I said, dusting off my hands and getting into my car.
When Jack came to his senses, he raged impotently, “Amelia Taylor! You deserved to be wronged by me! I hope you never find someone who

loves you!”
Jack divorced me one day and married Olivia the next, holding a wedding ceremony with her.
At the wedding, Jack said I only caught his eye because I somewhat resembled Olivia. He also said Olivia had her reasons for leaving him when he was at his lowest point.
They took turns painting me as the other woman.
I sat at the table in the farthest corner, watching their performance.
When Jack was with me, he said many times that he hated Olivia. He said he hated women who left him because he had no money. He freely disparaged Olivia in front of me.
Now at his wedding to Olivia, he was talking about how much he loved her. It really made me sick.
But it was fine. They were truly a match made in heaven. At least they wouldn’t harm anyone else.
When they finished exchanging wedding rings, I stood up and took the lead in applauding.
Jack had started a company, and many of his business partners were at the wedding today. Jack had introduced me to them before.
For a moment, the surroundings fell silent.
“Amelia Taylor, wasn’t the money I gave you in the divorce enough? I’ve already given you everything. I’m truly sorry for wasting your time, but since we’ve separated, can’t you leave with some dignity?” Jack said excitedly.
