Chapter 7

In the video, Roy was in mid–sentence when his expression abruptly shifted to one of seething hatred. “Once our son is born, he’ll inherit her fortune. I’ll make sure our son kicks her to the curb and forces her to beg for a living.
“She’s been pushing me around for days just because she’s got a couple of bucks. She’s never given a damn about my opinions. If it weren’t for her, our father wouldn’t have torn us apart, and you wouldn’t be stuck in that wheelchair for good. I’ve got to set things right.
“She even had the nerve to ask me to have a kid with her. It made my skin crawl.”
The voice on the video droned on, but everyone stood frozen in shock.
Nobody could’ve fathomed that this usually mild–mannered, polished vice president of Morrison Group could be so despicable and vile. While plotting to kill his own brother, he was also scheming to grab the Hawkins Group’s property.
Demons weren’t just in hell; they were right here in the human world.
All eyes were on Roy and Karen, but not a single question was asked.

In the live broadcast room, netizens were already laying into
him.

[Holy moly, this jerk thinks he’s in a soap opera? What he did is so gross; it’s worse than any melodramatic TV show.]
[Wanting to kill Ms. Hawkins to get her property is bad enough, but she never expected to raise the kid of her husband and another woman, not to mention Ms. Hawkins also became that kid’s surrogate mother for nothing. And she even helped them get knocked up and give birth for free!]
[Oh my god, can I please not see this? I really don’t want to fall in love anymore. If my husband did this to me, I’d lose my mind.]
The police officer watching the video sympathetically added, “Ms. Hawkins, even though you raised this child, Roy and Karen are still his biological parents. You ought to be more understanding and not pull stunts like this.”
Noah and I exchanged glances and smiled faintly.
I strode to the stage, grabbed the microphone, and spoke up, “You think Frank’s a bastard? Nope, he’s my son alright. His dad is my first love, Noah.”
Noah adjusted his glasses and walked to the stage, wrapping his arms around my shoulders lovingly.
“Sorry for the trouble, everyone. I only found out recently myself. Frank is indeed our child, mine and Gloria’s.”

Then, he pulled out a brand–new paternity test.

Standing beside Noah, I faced the camera and said solemnly, “After that car accident, Karen couldn’t move around much, so I had someone put a camera in the house. Later, I got so caught up in a business trip that I forgot to mention it and accidentally stumbled upon this whole plot.
“By then, I’d already had the embryo implanted. Thankfully, it was only two days later. I got an abortion right away and was ready to come back and settle the score.
“That day, I happened to see Noah being interviewed abroad. I was in his city, so I quickly set up a meeting.
“At the time, I was so disheartened, I thought I’d never marry again. But the Hawkins Group still needed an heir. Noah’s not just stubborn; he’s also smart and good–looking. I just convinced him to give me his seed and punished Roy and Karen accordingly, making them pay for their evil ways.”
The crowd below erupted in chaos. Some even toppled over in their chairs. This was one heck of a drama.
The live broadcast room was filled with cheers.
[Ms. Hawkins, you’re amazing. You’re a true role model for women.]
[Ms. Hawkins, well done!]

Roy’s face turned ashen, and his lips trembled as he stammered, “Gloria, is… is it true? You knew about this all along? You wicked bitch, how dare you trick me!” With that, he lunged at me, his eyes blazing with fury.
But right beside me stood Noah’s bodyguard. Before the police could even react, they had Roy pinned to the ground.
Roy lay there, still howling and cursing.
Karen sat motionless in her wheelchair, muttering to herself, “My son, Frank is my son. You’re all liars…”
