Chapter 7 Rebirth
Theodore’s eyes flickered as he stood and walked to the door.
His tall frame leaned against the doorframe, his long leg blocking Colton who was trying to enter.
Colton said, “Mr. Walsh, why are you interfering in our family matters?”
Theodore glanced at the large bouquet of roses in his arms and sneered, “For the past year, Freya has been calling herself Mrs. Fields, and you never corrected that, did you?
“If that’s the case, your ‘family matters‘ should be resolved at the police station. Why are you here?”
Colton’s face darkened, but he had no retort.
Even though I knew Theodore was deliberately saying this for me to hear, my heart still ached unavoidably.
Since coming to Etheria, I had tried my best to block all information related to Colton, sometimes fantasizing that he would regret his actions and come to his senses, making our next meeting different.
But clearly, he remained unchanged.
After all, having gone to such lengths to place Freya on a

pedestal, he wouldn’t easily let go.

All those sweet words he once said to Freya, after she tired of them, became the promises he made to me.
It wasn’t until sometime during this past year that I finally understood everything and stopped dwelling on what I couldn’t have.
Now, I only see my past devotion as a joke.
I said, “If your so–called love is just betrayal and hurt, Colton, then I truly can’t bear it. Please, just leave me alone.”
Colton took a deep breath and said, “I’ll make things right about what happened yesterday. We can talk properly.”
I smiled sardonically–he owed me far more than just one explanation.
Still, it would be better to clear things up with him than to have him continue pursuing me.
Theodore turned to look at me.
I nodded. “Thank you. Let him in.”
Theodore stepped aside, casually saying to Colton, “I’m going to handle the discharge paperwork, but if I come back and find anything wrong with her, I won’t hesitate to bankrupt Fields Group.”

Colton ignored his threat and walked straight over. “Aria, I’ve been going crazy with how much I’ve missed you since you left. How could you be so heartless?
“I admit I wronged you before, but I truly regret it.
“I never saw you as a replacement. You and Freya are nothing alike…”
I ignored him.
After all, time had healed those wounds, which no longer needed empty words to fill.
He continued, “I can take back everything I gave Freya and cut ties with her completely. It’s just that the company still needs her right now.
“Aria, I won’t make you angry again. You can punish me however you want!”
My voice was calm but resolute. “Colton, I don’t love you anymore. Without you, I’m doing just fine.”
Colton pleaded, “But I can’t live without you. I’ll do anything if you forgive me. I truly know I was wrong.”
Seeing he was still so selfish, I said coldly, “The best
compensation you can offer me is to stop disrupting my life.“At that moment, Theodore walked into the room and whispered in his ear, his tone full of mockery and challenge. “Mr. Fields, has my Aria forgiven you yet?”

Colton’s veins instantly bulged as he clenched his fist and swung it. “Get this straight, she’s MY wife!”
Theodore didn’t dodge his punch. Because standing right behind him was me, just getting out of bed.I rushed over to stand between them, carefully cradling Theodore’s face to check his injuries, then applied iodine to his wounds.
He didn’t even flinch, instead smiling and asking. “Are you his wife?”
I quickly shook my head. “Not anymore. I have no relationship with him now.”
Seeing my unhesitating response, Colton’s eyes welled up as he grabbed my hand, “Aria, why are you protecting him like this? Is this man the reason you won’t come back with me? Were you so desperate to find someone else?”
His slander infuriated me. I slapped him and said, “I must say, you and Freya are perfect for each other. She spread countless rumors about me, and now it’s your turn? From now on, I’ll slap you every time I see you.”
Theodore’s lips curled into a slight smile as he helpfully suggested, “You might want to check your family records. As I understand it, your marital status was changed to ‘widowed‘ some time ago, arranged by Freya.”
Of course, he wouldn’t mention that he was the one who contacted Freya and guided her through the entire process.

Even from abroad, he was always decisive. These problems troubling Aria were best left for him to resolve.
Colton realized his mistake. His hand fell limply, and the roses he was holding slipped to the ground, petals scattering everywhere. He ultimately didn’t approach any further,
Soon, a phone call interrupted his moment of grief.
Tate reported, “Mr. Fields, the company’s financial chain has collapsed. You should return to the country immediately.”

Meanwhile, Theodore was holding my hand, refusing to let go. He brought my hand to his lips for a gentle kiss, the frost in his eyes gradually melting away. He asked softly, “Among your reasons for staying, could I be one of them?”
I nodded with a smile. With Colton, I was always under his control. Now, I could finally live for myself.
After Colton returned to the country, he indeed kept his promise. He cleared up all the rumors about me and publicly revealed how Freya’s fans had assaulted me. As a disgraced celebrity, her scandals kept emerging, with the final blow being her deliberate attempt to harm others. She had tampered with the scaffolding backstage at the theater. This time at the hotel, I was drugged, and she even boasted about it to my face–her actions clearly captured on security footage.
Her carefully cultivated image collapsed overnight, and she became universally despised. In a twist of poetic justice, everything I had suffered was now befalling her.

He tried to show his sincerity by exposing Freya’s actions. However, I wasn’t moved–I found it ironic. The evidence he possessed clearly indicated that he had known everything all along.

When Colton sent me his fiftieth email, Theodore finally unleashed his calculated vengeance against him. Over these two years, Colton had neglected his business, and his company was riddled with problems. No matter how capable Colton was, he was no match for Theodore’s methods. Soon, Fields Group declared bankruptcy.
I wasn’t surprised by Theodore’s revenge against Colton; I was only impressed by his efficiency. My only feeling toward Colton now was satisfaction at seeing justice served. After all the suffering, I felt they got what they deserved.
Theodore, concerned about my leg developing further problems, took meticulous care of me, even arranging frequent consultations with the world’s top orthopedic specialists. By the time I returned to the stage, Colton had accumulated so much debt that even his house was auctioned off to pay creditors. He finally discovered my abortion report from years ago in his safe. The discovery seemed to be the final blow to his already shattered world. In the early hours of that morning, he chose to end his life by jumping into the sea, leaving no message behind.
I had become the new principal dancer at the Royal Ballet and married Theodore. When Bruce brought me the news, I merely nodded indifferently. Colton didn’t deserve any of my time for reflection. I quickly immersed myself in my dance career. My

wish had come true, and a beautiful life awaited me. It was time to embrace the future that awaited me.
The end.
