Nick was so enraged he felt like his chest might burst. He had always prided himself on his gentlemanly demeanor and had never laid a hand on a woman–until now.
For the first time in his life, he lost control. Not only did he slap Xena across the face, but he also beat her mercilessly.
“Shut up, you vile woman! Don’t you dare use your filthy mouth to tarnish Mia’s name!
“Mia will come back! She loves me! Mia is the person in this world who loves me the most!
“You don’t know anything! You’re nothing but a shameless tramp who has no clue what love even means!”
Fueled by blind rage, Nick grabbed Xena’s head and slammed it against the wall repeatedly, leaving her head bloodied and battered.
Fortunately, Zac returned just in time. When he saw the scene unfolding, he immediately stepped in to stop Nick. Otherwise, Xena might not have survived.
Mia was still nowhere to be found, and now Xena had been beaten within an inch of her life. Zac couldn’t help but feel utterly drained. “This job is impossible. The workload is unbearable, and the chaos never ends,” he silently remarked,
Xena was soon taken away in an ambulance, while Nick sat in a daze at the entrance of the banquet hall.
He stared at his shattered luxury watch on his wrist, muttering to himself, “Two hours. It’s been two hours. Why hasn’t Mia come back yet?
“I told her. I told her to be back within an hour. Why didn’t she listen to me?”
Mia always listened to him. She had always been so obedient.
So why, at the moment he needed her most, did she suddenly disobey?
“Yes! She must’ve left her phone behind! That’s it! She didn’t see my messages!
“I’ll wait. I’ll wait a little longer. Mia will come back. She has to come back!”
Seeing Nick on the verge of a breakdown, Zac sighed deeply, his exhaustion palpable. “Mr. Ford,” Zac said somberly, “I just found some information about Mrs. Ford.‘
Hearing this, Nick’s head shot up. He grabbed Zac by the arm, his eyes filled with desperate hope. “Mia! Did you find Mia?”
